UK & Ireland Online Poker Rankings: Ludovic Geilich Climbs to Career High

Ludovic Geilich

Ludovic Geilich has climabed to fourth in the PocketFives.com UK online poker rankings and a career-high 22nd place in the world, thanks in part to two five-figure scores last week.

Geilich walked away with the $10,697 fifth-place prize of the $1,050 Sunday Grand PLO and followed that impressive result with an outright victory in the Big $215 for $13,212, both at PokerStars. The Scotsman has been in top form as of late, which when combined with his aggressive style of play, is resulting in Geilich hoovering up chips like they are going out of fashion and climbing up the rankings.

Patrick Leonard is still the No. 1 player in the UK and kept second-placed Conor Beresford at arm’s length when he won the PokerStars $320 NLHE 6-Max on Nov. 8 for $6,640. Beresford has a brace of decent scores himself, collecting $4,451 for winning the $15,000 Crocodile at 888poker and finishing as runner-up in the $215 Monday Six-Max at PokerStars for $10,936.

Four final table appearances in a week helped Phil Mighall keep tabs with the leaders. Runner-up finishes in the $44 Bounty Builder ($3,878) and the $82 NL08 6-Max Hyper-Turbo ($556) were backed up by a third-place in the Big $215 ($5,781), all at PokerStars. Mighall also finished eighth in the partypoker $300,000 Title Fight.

Shoutouts also go to Rick Trigg who was the third-place finisher in the PokerStars Hot $162 for $8,539, to “kyleeeOMC” who won the $215 Fat Tuesday at PokerStars for $19,101, to Oliver Price who took down the partypoker Super High Roller for $46,313 and to “luckyfish89” who was the runner-up in the partypoker Title Fight for $36,000.

Dan Wilson On Course to be No. 1 by Christmas!

Dan Wilson looks to be running away at the top of the Irish online poker rankings. He now has a 948.04 lead over Toby Joyce in second place.

Wilson has been one of the most consistent performers in 2016, and with results such as winning the $109 NLHE and $27 NLHE 6-Max Turbo at PokerStars for $1,943 and $1,141, it doesn’t look like anyone will be catching the Dubliner any time soon.

Tomasz Geleziunas continues to play an incredible amount of poker tournaments each week; the man is almost machine-like. The majority of Geleziunas’ tournaments cost less than $20 to enter and one can only wonder how high he could climb up the rankings if he played for larger stakes.

Lastly, a mention to Sean Prendiville who returned to the Irish top 20 following two victories. Prendiville won the $215 Fast Friday Turbo at PokerStars for $11,262 and then took down the Big €100 at PokerStars.fr for a $1,982 score.
