Joao Simao

Running alongside the 2017 PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker and 888 XL Eclipse this month is the partypoker Powerfest, and this weekend there were some massive prizes won across partypoker’s biggest events.

The biggest score weighed in at an impressive $245,770, which was the first-place prize in the 112th Powerfest event of the 330-event series, the $5,200 Championship Event. This tournament had a $1.5 million guarantee and attracted 297 entrants, including a number of partypoker’s ambassadors and pros.

Patrick “Patrick_Leonard” Leonard fired three bullets and it wasn’t his day at all. Fellow Team partypoker members Natalia “N4talB” Breviglieri, Marcel “Marcel-luske” Luske, Dzmitry “Dzmitry_Urbanovich” Urbanovich, Anatoly “NL_Profit” Filatov and Kristen “Krissyb24” Bicknell also fell short of the money places.

Richard “RichyDubini” Dubini finished 31st for $10,050, Joao “joaosimaobh” Simao fell in 25th place for $10,050 and Roberto “WelshWizard” Romanello finished 18th for $15,150 on his second bullet; Simao went on to win Powerfest 118 for $123,725.

The tournament finally crowned its champion at 5:10 a.m. BST on Monday morning and it was “FkTheseGuysBro” who was the last player standing and turned $5,200 into $245,770.

There were also some large scores enjoyed by players at 888poker thanks in part to the XL Eclipse series kicking off. One event, the XL Eclipse #10 - $250,000 Whale, drew a crowd of 218 players despite it commanding a $1,050 buy-in. Germany’s “CllsDntMttr” was the player who came out on top, defeating “KimberSlice” heads-up to get his hands on the $64,826 first place prize.

Another big XL Eclipse tournament was the $300,000 guaranteed Opening Event, which beat its guarantee by $45,000. The lion’s share of the prize pool, namely $58,270, is now in the 888poker account of “ImTriggered” who bested a 1,700-strong field on his way to victory.

Lastly, a shout out to “iCrushU556” who took down the XL Eclipse #11 - $100,000 Sunday Challenge for a $20,252 bankroll addition.
