Tom 'durrrr' Dwan Becomes Latest Triton Poker Ambassador

Triton Poker has just announced Tom Dwan as its latest ambassador.

Dwan is a recognizable name to all poker fans. In the early 2000s, Dwan, playing under the screenname "durrrr", successfully ran up a $50 deposit into a $2 million bankroll. Although mostly known for playing high-stakes cash games, Dwan has held his own in the tournament arena as well with nearly $3.2 million in live tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob.

In 2009, Dwan became a Full Tilt Red Pro and was part of the first Full Tilt Pros along with Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Gus Hansen when the online poker room relaunched after Black Friday in 2012. This relationship lasted for more than a year before he left the brand at the end of 2013.

The pairing between Triton Poker and Dwan appears to be a natural one. Dwan has not only been a supporter of Triton Poker since its founding in 2015 by Malaysian businessman and poker enthusiast Richard Yong, but also one of the earliest players to promote the popularity of Short Deck, also known as Six Plus Hold'em.

Short Deck has gained popularity through Triton Poker, with the brand's festivals featuring live-streamed high-stakes Short Deck tournaments and cash games with some of the biggest names in poker. The festivals, which attract both affluent businessmen and professional poker players, has a long list of big-name winners including Fedor Holz, Daniel "Jungleman" Cates, Justin Bonomo, Timothy Adams, John Juanda, Dan Colman, Phil Ivey, Mikita Badziakouski, and Jason Koon.

Dwan becomes the second Triton Poker Ambassador joining Jason Koon who was the first to represent the brand, as announced last January. Koon is understandably excited about Dwan joining him on the team:

“I’m thrilled to be in the company of Tom Dwan as a Triton Ambassador,” said Koon in a Triton Poker press release. “When I began my journey as a poker player, Tom was already crushing the biggest games in the world. When the poker action started booming in Asia, Tom was one of the first to dive into the action. He's one of the most exciting players to watch and play against, and I can’t think of a better addition to the Triton roster.”

Dwan's first appearance for the brand will take place at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Montenegro, which features 10 big events on May 5-17 at the Maestral Casino & Resort.
