Vegas Value Report [June 30-July 6] - Where to Play Poker in Las Vegas this Week

Las Vegas Value Report

It's summer camp for poker players in Las Vegas with the World Series of Poker in town for its annual pilgrimage. While there are many fantastic bracelet and other events taking place every day at the Rio, there are also tons of other significant value events played at other casinos including the Aria, Binions, the Golden Nugget, Orleans, Planet Hollywood, the Venetian, and the Wynn. Of course, there is no shortage of cash games running around the clock as well.

The summer schedule provides plenty of opportunities for players to dabble in games they can't easily play throughout the year. Regardless, it is always the no-limit hold'em tournaments that feature the biggest turnouts.

With this in mind, here is a look at some of the bigger value tournaments this coming week of June 30 - July 6. The tournament data comes courtesy of the tournament organizers. 1) Event #69: $1,000 Mini Main Event (July 1-2)

Vegas Value Report [June 30-July 6] - Where to Play Poker in Las Vegas this Week 101

The Mini Main Event is a new one on the WSOP schedule and is bound to draw in a huge crowd of players based on some of the other relatively small buy-in bracelet events that have taken place already this summer.

Although scheduled for two days on July 1-2, it wouldn't be surprising if festival organizers tacked on a third day on July 3 depending on the final field size and the pace of play.

Players start off with a monster stack of 60,000 in chips and will play 20 blinds levels of 30 minutes each on the opening day. Similar to the Main Event, the Mini version is a freezeout affair. This means players eliminated will not be able to reenter during the 12 level late registration period like they may have been able to in other smaller buy-in bracelet events.

Surviving players are scheduled to play down to a winner on July 2 with a scheduled final table stream taking place at 9 p.m. PDT at CBS All Access in the United States, Canada, and Australia and at PokerGO in the rest of the world.

2) Venetian DeepStack Championship Poker Series $600 MonsterStack $500,000 Guaranteed (July 1 - 3)

Venetian Deepstack Poker Series Las Vegas

The Venetian DeepStack Championship Poker Series has been attracting big fields of players looking for a break of scenery from the Rio while also playing for a chance at a big payday.

This week the Venetian could be competing with the WSOP for players that are participating in the Mini Main Event with the $600 No Limit Hold’em MonsterStack taking place on July 1-3.

The tournament features two opening days on July 1-2 with players starting with a stack of 35,000 in chips. Day 1a will end when 11 percent of the field remains or 16 blind levels which will also determine when Day 1b ends. Players can reenter an unlimited amount of times on both days until the start of Level 10. In addition; players that bag chips on Day 1a can try for a bigger stack on Day 1b with the biggest stack being brought forth to Day 2 on July 3 when a winner will be crowned.

3) Phamous Poker Series GOLIATH $1 Million Guaranteed Main Event (July 2-4)

Planet Hollywood Phamous Poker Series

The Phamous Poker Series GOLIATH will be featuring its biggest event of their schedule on July 2-4 with the $1 million guaranteed GOLIATH Main Event featuring a $1,700 buy-in.

The tournament features a single opening day on July 2 at noon PDT with players starting with 40,000 in chips and blinds increasing every 40 minutes. The final number of entrants and prize pool won't be known until the start of Day 2 on July 3 at noon PDT when late registration closes.

Day 2 will also feature 15 blind levels, although the final three of the day will increase to an hour in length which will be the blind duration for the remainder of the tournament.

The tournament will play down to a winner on July 4 when one player is guaranteed a payout of at least $200,000.

4) Event #73: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - World Championship (July 3-16)

Vegas Value Report [June 30-July 6] - Where to Play Poker in Las Vegas this Week 102

The WSOP Main Event is considered the tournament of the year by most poker players and fans. Although it is difficult to call any $10,000 buy-in event value, with promises of a top prize of at least $8 million and a great structure this is a can't miss event for anyone who can afford it. Of course, otherwise one can attempt to get in cheaper via the plethora of online satellites at 888poker and live satellites held all summer long at the Rio.

Last year, John Cynn outlasted a field of 7,874 entrants to win the $8.8 million top prize. This year's event could be even bigger based on the overall turnout this summer being bigger than last. It would take a much bigger growth to break a WSOP Main Event record as in 2006, Jamie Gold topped a field of 8,773 entrants to win a $12 million top prize.

The tournament, which will be broadcasted live on ESPN and ESPN2, features three opening flights starting at noon PDT on July 3-5 where players will start with a big stack of 60,000 in chips and battle for five blind levels of two hours each.

Players bagging chips on Day 1a and Day 1b will return on July 6 while Day 1c survivors will compete on July 7. The field combines and the action will continue for five straight days on July 8-12 until just nine players remain.

Final table players will have a day off for rest and interviews on July 13 before resuming battle for three more days on July 14-16 until the latest WSOP Main Event winner is crowned.

5) Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series $200 NLH $2500,000 Guaranteed (July 4 - 7)

Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series

Downtown provides a change of scenery for many poker players visiting Sin City over the summer with the Golden Nugget arguably providing the most pristine poker room in the area.

The Golden Nugget Poker Series is boasting an event with a healthy $250,000 guarantee suitable for players with more limited bankrolls with just a $200 buy-in.

The tournament provides plenty of chances to build a big stack with nine opening flights with three per day on July 4-6 at 11 a.m. PDT, 3 p.m. PDT, and 7 p.m. PDT. Unlimited reentries are allowed during each of the opening flights up until late registration closes at the start of Level 10.

Each opening flight will end when 10 percent of the field rounded up remains. Players can choose to enter again after bagging chips to potentially try to be awarded $1,500 for bagging up multiple Day 2 stacks.

The second day kicks off at noon PDT on July 7 with blind levels increased to 40 minutes each. If there isn't a winner crowned by 3 a..m. PDT, players can discuss whether to continue to play or play down to a winner on July 8 with the final decision approved by the tournament director.
