Bounty Poker Tour Postponed 'Until Further Notice'

Right on the heels of PokerStars decision to cancel all the live poker events in Europe until April 10, a representative of the Bounty Poker Tour reached out to PokerNews to announce their upcoming Estonian event is no longer on the schedule.

"We have unfortunate announcements regarding [the] Bounty Poker Tour Tallinn," said the Bounty Poker Tour representative in a message sent out on Monday, March 9.

"To ensure the wellbeing and safety of players and personnel, Bounty Poker Tour and Olympic Casino decided to postpone the event until further notice."

The event should have taken place at the Olympic Park Casino in Tallinn, Estonia, on March 19-22.

"The situation with coronavirus in Baltics and Scandinavia have escalated rapidly during the past seven days," the communication continued.

"Officials recommend cancelling business and other kinds of trips, if possible."

Only a few hours earlier, the Estonian Health Board health board sent a message to all the country's citizens with "essential information on Coronavirus."

The message issued by Estonia's health authorities on Monday.

The note from the government came right after a weekend when Baltic and Scandinavian countries registered rapid growth in the number of people who tested positive to coronavirus.

Since last week, all passengers in transit at Tallinn airport are scanned with thermal cameras and receive immediate assistance — including free hand sanitizer and surgical masks.

"We all were excited about the first Bounty Poker tour event here in Estonia. But there is no other option," the note went on to explain. "We must take a responsible stance in helping to contain the virus."

The organizers promise that the new dates of the 2020 Bounty Poker Tour Tallinn "will be released as soon as the spread of the virus has stopped."
