The Weekend Preview

High stakes and super high roller tournaments grab the attention of the poker community and it’s easy to see why. They attract households names and payout massive prizes, but most of us mere mortal can’t justify investing such large sums of money on a single tournament entry.

There’s a huge market for affordable tournaments with juicy guarantees and partypoker, PokerStars and GGPoker have some such events taking place this weekend.

Play The Weekender This Weekend

First, we head to partypoker where The Weekender takes place. The Weekender first launched during the WPT World Online Championships and proved so popular that partypoker decided t make it a regular feature.

The Weekender costs $109 to enter and has $150,000 guaranteed. There are a trio of starting flights to choose from: Day 1A at 7:05 p.m. on December 18, Day 1B at the same time on December 19 and Day 1C at the slightly earlier time of 4:05 p.m. GMT on December 20.

100,000 chips is your starting stack and your goal is to reach the end of the 15th level using no more than one re-entry. Those levels are 15-minutes long on Day 1A and Day 1B; they are 10-minutes long on Day 1C so the flight finishes before Day 2 starts at 7:05 p.m. GMT on December 20.

This PKO is a great recent addition to partypoker’s schedule and definitely worth your attention.

Turn $55 Into a Share of a Guaranteed $400,000

Another excellent PKO to consider buying into this weekend is the $55 Mini Bounty Builder HR at PokerStars. The $55 buy-in is the cheapest of the tournaments mentioned here but it has a whopping $400,000 guaranteed prize pool thanks to PokerStars boosting the guarantee.

You win at least $25 for each and every opponent you send to the sidelines, and there will be plenty of them to get through! You’re permitted to make up to two re-entries during the late registration period should you dust off your 25,000 starting stack within the first two-hours 20-minutes. Let’s hope you don’t need to re-enter and that first $55 bullet (or $2.20 satellite entry) turns into a massive score in time for Christmas.

Will Your Win a WSOPC Ring This Weekend?

Last, but certainly not least, is the sixth WSOPC ring-awarding event of the Winter Festival at GGPoker. This event is the $170 buy-in Mini Main Event which has a gigantic $2 million guaranteed prize pool!

There are 15 starting flights remaining, at time of writing, giving you plenty of opportunities to get in on the action. Each of those flights has at least one $20 buy-on satellite feeding into it.

All the Day 1s conclude at the end of their 20th level and anyone with a single chip in front of them progresses to Day 2 on December 20 at 6:30 p.m.

You’re allowed to play in as many Day 1s as you wish, but only your largest stack is carried through if you progress more than once.
