Satellite-Winner "McDavid97" Hoping for $395K Payday in GGPoker Super MILLION$

The 48th edition of the GGPoker Super MILLION$ has reached the final table stage after the 191 starters were whittled to a more manageable final table of nine on May 9. Those nine players return to their seats at 7:00 p.m. BST on May 10 and battle it out until only one of them remains. That solitary figure gets to call themselves the Super MILLION$ champion for this week, in addition to walking away with $394,852 in prize money.

GGPoker was left nursing a $90,000 overlay courtesy of 191 players leaving the $2 million guarantee short. Only the top 20 finishers secured a slice of the $2 million pie, so spare a thought for Matthias Eibinger who finished in 21st place and was the last star to return home empty-handed.

Eibinger's demise was the gain of the surviving 20 players because they locked up at least $25,778. The likes of Dario Sammartino, last week's Super MILLION$ champion Wiktor Malinowski, and former champ Joakim Andersson each bowed out in the first level of payouts. Patrick Leonard's exit in 10th place set the star-studded final table; Leonard banked $48,644.

Super MILLION$ Final Table Payouts

Each of the nine finalists is now guaranteed $61,387 but one of them will pad their bankroll with almost $400,000 — $394,852 to be exact. Canada's "McDavid97" is the player leading the charge for that astronomical sum right now thanks to having 3,719,502 chips in their stack.

McDavid97 won their seat for only $525, so is already guaranteed a massive return on that investment. They have their sights firmly set on more than the ninth-place payout and have every chance of walking away as the tournament's champion.

The overnight chip leader will not have matters their own way, however, because there are some legitimate stars in the chasing pack. Daniel Dvoress is one such star, one making what is his seventh Super MILLION$ final table appearance. Dvoress finished third on January 24, 2021, which was his best result so far in this tournament. He will, no doubt, have his eye on the main prize.

Mike Watson is the man occupying third place at the restart, and is another player who will be bitterly disappointed with any finishing position less than first place. Watson has now cashed in 15 of his 47 Super MILLION$ appearances, with six of those cashes occurring at the final table. Like Dvoress, Watson has never finished higher than third.

Fourth place when the cards are back in the air belongs to "DaiMing141319" of the UAE. DaiMing141319 won their seat via a $1,050 satellite and is hoping to parlay that satellite win into a six-figure prize. This is their first cash and, therefore, first final table from four attempts. Will it be their first win? DaiMing141319 has won the $1,050 Super Tuesday and a $2,625 GG Spring Festival High Roller recently so knows their way around a poker table.

Reaching back-to-back Super MILLION$ final tables is no mean feat, so do not write of Guillaume Nolet's chances of glory despite him sitting back down fifth in chips. Nolet knows what it is like to win this event, having done so in October 2020. Last week's final table ended with a fifth-place finish. Nolet is hopeful history does not repeat itself on May 11.

Ami Barer, like Nolet, reached last week's Super MILLION$ final table but could not get the job done. Barer had to make do with a fourth place finish worth $196,472, and is gunning for revenge this week. Barer may be down in sixth place at the restart, but still has 32.4 big blinds in his stack. He will not be playing to ladder up the payouts, he will go for the outright victory.

Seventh-placed Idris Ambraisse, the Morocco-based Frenchman, has 27 big blinds in his stack despite being in far down the chip counts. Ambraisse came agonisingly close to winning a WSOP bracelet last summer when he finshed second in the $600 NLHE 6-Handed event. He collected $144,999 after losing out heads-up to Jeffrey Dobrin.

Preben Stokkan is a Norwegian based in the United Kingdom, and a superb tournament player. Stokkan has cashed for only the fourth time from 21 appearances, while this is his first Super MILLION$ final table. He is armed with 21.7 big blinds and his one double away from being able to make a real nuisance of himself.

Fabrice Touil is another Morocco-based French grinder who has reached the Super MILLION$ final table. Touil has four previous cashes in this event with two of those in-the-money finishes being at a final table. Both those final table grinds have ended in sixth-place. Sitting down with 13 big blinds is far from ideal, but at least Touil has some relatively easy decision at the start of play because he is essentially moving all-in or folding.
