Here on PokerNews we've already written about the successful launch of Mystery Bounty tournaments on 888poker, with the very first tournament on the site more than doubling its guarantee!
The XL Retro festival currently features two Mystery Bounty tournaments, scheduled for this weekend, but 888poker has had to add even more Mystery Bounty tournaments to its client, with players such as 888poker Ambassador Alexandre "Cavalito" Mantovani enjoying the exciting new tournament format.
How Do Mystery Bounty Tournaments on 888poker work?
"I've had a lot of fun," Mantovani told PokerNews. "Bounty tournaments have become so popular in recent years, and Mystery Bounty tournaments are just a whole new fresh look. I think 888poker have nailed it."
On 888poker, players don't have to make Day 2 or even make the money in order to win a Mystery Bounty. In these tournaments there are two phases:
First Phase: No Bounties are rewarded for elimination
Second Phase: Mystery Bounties are randomly placed on the remaining players' heads. These bounties are then revealed upon elimination and rewarded to the winner.

Mantovani says that while in bounty tournaments you can win prizes for eliminating players at any point, Mystery Bounty tournaments on 888poker are different where players can only win the bounties once the second phase is reached.

"In normal bounty tournaments, the bounty prize pool is divided between everyone right from the beginning. Whereas Mystery Bounty tournaments make it much more like a regular tournament — you have to make it to the second phase to be eligible.
"Plus you don't have to make the money to win a bounty. It's only in the second phase which is a few levels after late registration. It's amazing because more players are able to win bounties and have fun, and that's just great!"

This tournament comes with a $20,000 guarantee and takes place at 17:30 (UTC) every day.
