888poker's XL Retro series' eagerly anticipated $200,000 Mystery Bounty event crowned its champion on October 17 and in thrilling fashion. Some 859 poker players took to the 888poker virtual felt, each sharing the common goal of reaching Level 18, which was when the mystery bounties kicked in.
Only 244 of those starters survived long enough to be in contention for a mystery bounty. $177.66 was the smallest bounty payment anyone could receive, but there were a pair of $6,000 bounties, plus a jackpot of $20,000 for one lucky 888poker winner.

Forty-fifth place finisher "KKingJames23" was the lucky winner of the $20,000 top mystery bounty prize. They won another two bounties in addition to a $340 main prize pool prize, for a total haul worth $20,355!
The 11th place finisher "feerofeero" collected a cool $8,234 worth of bounties, with "DGR.POKHER" of New Zealand busting in 183rd place but scooping a $6,000 scalp!

"marllonsanti" got off to a flying start at the final table, finding pocket aces after a short-stacked "Percepteur" open-shoved with queen-jack suited. The aces held, and marllonsanti bagged another $500 bounty in addition to giving his stack a boost.
One by one the players headed to the rail. "Omar.Si" of Montenegro joined Percepteur before 888poker regulars "kiskutya23" and "HyperX." Saw their tournaments end abruptly.
"Kabosu69" of Malta and "frostnova" fell short of the victory, before "AUSTIPOSTI" was eliminated in third-place, leaving marllonsanti heads-up against the United Kingdom's "33betwizkid." The British grinder was one of the short stacks at the start of the final table, but fought valiantly throughout proceedings. Unfortunately, they tripped up at the final hurdle and had to make do with a runner-up finish.
The final hand saw 33betwizkid open-shove for 6.5 big blinds with queen-seven, and marllonsanti call with jack-eight of hearts. 33betwizkid flopped a queen, but running hearts on the turn and river gifted marllonsanti a flush and the win.
