BetMGM Winter Poker Championship in MI, NJ, and PA Starts Jan. 12

The weather is cold outside, but the action on the virtual BetMGM virtual felt is about to heat up in Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Starting Jan. 12 in those three states, the BetMGM Winter Poker Championship will kick off with exciting tournaments running through Jan. 22.

The online poker site promises at least $150,000 in the Main Event in each state, except for New Jersey which has a $175,000 Main Event guarantee. Tournaments in the upcoming series will fit into just about any bankroll, with buy-ins starting at $100 and going all the way up to $2,500.

Series at a Glance

There will be at least two daily tournaments throughout the series, and play on most days will start right at 7:00 p.m. ET. All registered players of BetMGM are eligible to play, even those who do not reside in these three states, but you must be located within state borders at the time of play.

Each state will have a different player pool during the BetMGM Winter Poker Championship events. That means if you are located in Pennsylvania, you must download the BetMGM PA platform, as you won't be able to play on your BetMGM MI account, for example.

On top of competing for some juicy cash prizes, the poker site will also be handing out trophies to the winners of 13 select events, starting with the $500 no-limit hold'em kick-off event on Jan. 12, which features a $40,000 guaranteed prize pool. There are 24 tournaments total in each state.

The biggest event of the series will be the Main Event, a $1,000 buy-in tournament on Jan. 22 with at least $150,000 guaranteed ($175,000 in New Jersey). But there are plenty of other exciting events, including the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller on Jan. 15, which has a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool.

All tournaments in the BetMGM Winter Poker Championship series will last one day, except for the two-day Championship event.
