2023 ONCOOP Comes To An End With "wrsport1015" Winning Main Event

The biggest two-and-a-half weeks in Ontario poker have come to a close.

The 2023 ONCOOP ran from September 15 to October 2 on PokerStars Ontario. Over those eighteen days of thrilling online poker, the ONCOOP festival generated CAD$2,776,197* in prize pools across 137 events.

That means 137 new ONCOOP titles, including the most prestigious of all—the ONCOOP Main Event Champion—which was awarded in the closing hours of the festival.

Big Fields, Big Prizes

While the ONCOOP $300 Main Event was the biggest prize pool of the series by a large margin, it ended up being the third in terms of field size.

The $50 Mini Main outstripped the Main's attendance with 879 entries to 737. The ONCOOP 20: $20 Mini Sunday Special was then sandwiched in between with 794 entries.

Despite the huge prize pool, the first-place prize for the Main Event ($27,975) got outstripped by ONCOOP 123: $1,000 Ontario High Roller Championship of NLHE. With 136 entries, the High Roller Championship hit a distant second for the biggest prize pool with $129,608.

However, "Ristokat" won the biggest prize of the series, when he took the High Roller down for $28,408. This was thanks to a three-way chop bringing the Main Event's top payout down from around $35k to just under $28k.

"Wrsport1015" Wins Main Event, $28k, And A Trip To Vegas

The ONCOOP $300 Ontario Championship Of NLHE—also known as the ONCOOP Main Event—earned a jumbo 737 entries and hit a prize pool of $206,360.

Eighty-seven players made the money, including PokerStars team pro Arlie "Prince Pablo" Shaban (17th-$1,833) and "dusty truth" (83rd for $682) who won three events this ONCOOP.

The overall winner of the event was "wrsport1015" who took home $27,976 after a three-way chop with "Mgh.Ca" in second ($26,335) and "TeeWee55"in third ($25,561).

Both of "wrsports1015" opponents three-way had already won events this festival. "Mgh.Ca" took down ONCOOP 59: Session Starter and "TeeWee55" had two titles to their name—ONCOOP 12: Ontario Open Championship and ONCOOP 33: Super Tuesday High Roller.

As the winner, "wrsport1015" also received a $25,000 package to play at the NAPT in Vegas this Winter.

Crazy ONCOOP Run For "92c92m"

While "wrsport1015" won the most prestigious title, "92c92m" just won the most titles. They took down six events, earning $47,212 for their first-place finishes alone.

They even went back to back on September 26, winning Events 83 and 84 one after another. For extra points, they also took eighth and ninth places in Event 85 and Event 89 respectively all on the same day.

Just behind them was "windexxxx" with five titles and a quartet of hat-tricks in joint third.
