PA Poker News April Update: Early SCOOP Winners; Big Live Event Coming to Philly

Hi! I'm Keith Becker, PokerNews Ambassador and Pennsylvania native, here with a PA poker update for March 2025. It's an exciting time in America for the game we all know and love, and I'm excited to be bringing you state highlights every month.

What are the big issues and stories on everyone's minds? Let’s get into it.

The biggest story is still Pennsylvania joining the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA). While we don't have anything new since last month's update, we also have no reason to believe things aren't still on track. And that means multi-state liquidity for PA poker could be coming as soon as the end of this month.

There is a lot going on in Pennsylvania online poker right now.

PokerStars PA is in full swing of one of its biggest series of the year — SCOOP. As of this recording, 28 events have been completed - that's Low, Medium, and High variants in SCOOP, so really, it's around 80 events done. Some folks in PA are doing a fantasy league where they draft each other, track scores, and as you can imagine, there is quite a bit of trash talk along the way. The ones with the most ammunition to trash talk so far this SCOOP are people like Mike Lavin (AKA Dionysus188), who has the most fantasy points, most total cashes, and the highest earnings, and Alex Schwint (AKA Schwibbs1) - who is incidentally my poker coach - with the most wins.

And the PA crew have gone even further than that, as this is the second year they are running a fantasy competition within their fantasy competition, pitting "Team Old" (players 30 and over) against "Team Young." This competition is even more hotly contested, but as you can see here Team Old is proving they can still get it up at the poker table as they are currently in the lead.

Early PA SCOOP Winners

PokerStars is also running some satellites to their next live poker event - the PokerStars Philadelphia Open, taking place from April 21-27. The PokerStars series at Philly Live! Casino will feature events ranging from $300 up to $2,200. There's a women's event, a bounty event with special bounties for eliminating ambassadors, and it all culminates in the $1,100 Main from April 23-27.

WSOP is back with its circuit schedule this month. I say back with their schedule because, honestly, at this point, the WSOP series schedules are pretty much copied and pasted every month with no real iteration. That said, people do still fire away in them for the allure of winning not only part of the prize pool but also a WSOP Circuit Ring. This series once again has 12 events that you can check out in the client.

BetRivers is the newest client in Pennsylvania and has been firing off promotions left and right - there's been a deposit bonus, cash game happy hours, bonuses for registering tournaments early ... this latest promo gives you a sit-and-go ticket if you whiff on two of that entry level.
