Michael Addamo

Few things are guaranteed in life. Even fewer are set in stone in the poker world, although finding Michael Addamo among the chip leaders in a massive online poker tournament at GGPoker is almost always a sure thing.

Addamo has an almost unnatural ability to build a big stack in prestigious tournaments. There aren't too many online MTTs as illustrious as the $10,300 buy-on, $8 million guaranteed GGMillion$ Main Event, which is part of the ongoing GGMillion$ Week at the online poker giant. Addamo is one of the 294 players to enter so far, and he currently finds himself in fifth place among the 27 survivors, with a 1,909,003 stack worth 76 big blinds on Day 2.

The four-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet winner is one of the biggest winners at GGPoker; he has amassed more than $16.1 million in winnings. A couple of Addamo's most lucrative victories came in $10,300 events online. He banked $402,456 for a win in April 2024 after leaving 197 opponents in his wake.

Addamo isn't the only stellar name to bag a big stack from the completed Day 1s. Mauricio Pais (2,374,785) is currently second in chips, while Biao Ding (1,698,393) and Jans Arends (1,069,351) are in the top 10.

Lower down the pecking order but still in with a legitimate chance of banking a top prize guaranteed to be at least $1 million are luminaries such as Barak Wisbrod (793,857), Simon Mattsson (784,059), Alisson Piekazewicz (579,041), and Christoph Vogelsang (458,641).

Only Five $10,300 Flights Remain

Only five GGMillion$ Main Event flights remain in this $8 million guaranteed tournament. The shuffle up and deal at 7:00 p.m. BST on August 14-17 with a last chance flight scheduled for 4:00 p.m. BST on August 18.

  • Thu 14 Aug at 7:00 p.m. BST
  • Fri 15 Aug at 7:00 p.m. BST
  • Sat 16 Aug at 7:00 p.m. BST
  • Sun 17 Aug at 7:00 p.m. BST
  • Mon 18 Aug at 4:00 p.m. BST

Players sit down with 100,000 chips and play to a 20-minute clock, where the blinds start at 250/500/60a. Late registration remains open until the end of the 15th level; unlimited re-entries are permitted for those with deep pockets or who have won multiple seats via the cut-price satellites that run around the clock.

Each Day 1 ends after the 24th level at the latest, with surviving players progressing to Day 2 at 9:00 p.m. BST on August 18 knowing they are already in the money. GGPoker guarantees the champion will take home at least $1 million for their efforts, although the official top prize is likely to be greater than that.

There is a danger of this tournament overlaying, adding more value to those who enter. At the time of writing, the overlay stands at $5,060,000 with only five flights remaining. "Only" $2,940,000 has been collected across four flights, meaning each remaining flight must average 100 entrants. Otherwise, GGPoker will be delving into its pockets and making up the guarantee's shortfall.
