PokerStars EPT Returns to Malta For the First Time Since 2016

PokerStars last took its European Poker Tour (EPT) to the Mediterranean island of Malta in October 2016, some nine years ago. Some say that a Maltese EPT is long overdue. Those people will be delighted to learn that the EPT is heading to the Casino Malta in St. Julian's from October 1-12.

EPT Malta kicks off on October 1 with the €1,650 PokeStars Open Main Event. Since its launch, the PokerStars Open has proved extremely popular with players, often seeing first-place prizes worth six figures. With six flights, the Maltese edition of the PokerStars Open could get close to the record-breaking 5,036 attendance set at the recent EPT Barcelona festival.

Live satellites are available for the PokerStars Open, or you could redeem a silver Power Path Pass for the €1,650 buy-in and some spending money.

Although there are some massive tournaments on the 2025 PokerStars EPT Malta schedule, it is the €5,300 EPT Malta Main Event that everyone has their eye on. The inaugural EPT Malta Main Event, in October 2015, saw 651 players buy in and created a €3,255,000 prize pool. Niall Farrell came out on top and walked away with €534,330 after a heads-up deal with Alen Bilic.

Twelve months later, Aliaksei Boika topped a 468-strong field and received €355,700 of the €2,340,000 prize pool.

With live and online satellites in plentiful supply, everything points to this year's EPT Malta Main Event being the largest on record. Online satellites from €0.55 eventually feed into the €530 EPT Malta Main Event Qualifier, where one package is guaranteed for every €7,900 in the prize pool. That package awards:

Eight nights' accommodation for two, including breakfasts, at the InterContinental Malta Hotel
€456 credited to your PokerStars account to cover travel costs
