MSPT Heading to Michigan for 2nd “Major” of Season 16; $1.5M GTD Up for Grabs
The Major Series of Poker: The Tour (MSPT) is currently at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Casino for the 2025 MSPT Wisconsin State Poker Championship. After that, they’ll head one state over to Michigan’s FireKeepers Casino for the $1,110 buy-in, $1.5 million GTD Spade Poker Championship.
It marks the tour’s second “Major” championship after Josh Reichard topped a 1,051-entry field to win the $1,600 Heart Poker Championship at the Venetian over the summer, good for $212,929 and the MSPT Hall of Famer’s second MSPT title.
The stop, which offers four side events for a total of five Gold Card tournaments, has been running satellites for the Spade Poker Championship since late August, which always ensures a massive turnout at FireKeepers. For example, when the MSPT was there back in May for the Season 16 Michigan Poker State Championship, 3,040 entrants created a massive $2,947,300 prize pool. Corey Wick took that one down for $397,587.
There will be a trio of starting flights for the stop’s Main Event, starting with Day 1A at Noon local time on Thursday, October 9. Days 1B & 1C will take place at the same time on Friday and Saturday, respectively, before the surviving players from all three flights return at 10 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, to play down to a winner. Players will start with 30,000 in chips and play 40-minute levels, while late registration will remain open each day until ~9:25 p.m.
