This past weekend, Season 17 of the Major Series of Poker: The Tour (MSPT) hosted an $1,110 Main Event at Milwaukee’s Potawatomi Casino, a tournament that attracted 1,299 runners. That surpassed the $1 million guarantee by generating a $1,258,530 prize pool.

Of those, 145 returned for Sunday’s Day 2 in the money, and after a full day of play, it was well-known poker pro Hamid Izadi coming out on top to win the tournament outright for $219,654. He did so after a dominating performance that saw him eliminate nine of his final 14 opponents en route to victory.

“Feels great,” Izadi told MSPT reporter Anthony Thompson after his win. “My friend Josh [Reichard] told me I needed to start playing more of these, but it just never really fit into my schedule. So, this year I made a schedule to fit in most of the MSPT Main Events, and this is the second one I’ve played, so I’m very happy that I made this decision.”

Izadi also earned a seat in the $3,500 MSPT Championship Rock ‘N’ Roll Poker Open (RRPO), which will be held at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida, Nov. 18 – Dec. 2, boasting a $2,000,000 GTD Main Event.

While he’s new to the MSPT, Izadi is an accomplished poker player with 10 WSOP Circuit gold rings and more than $2.7 million in lifetime tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob.
