Ian Simpson Wins 888poker LIVE Madrid

The Grand Via Casino in Madrid is the venue for the opening event of the 2026 888poker LIVE tour. Between January 11-18, hundreds of poker players from far and wide will descend on the Grand Via Casino, each sharing the common goal of getting 2026 off to a flying start by becoming an 888poker LIVE champion.

January 11 at 5:00 p.m. local time when the first event shuffles up and deals: Day 1a of the €220 No-Limit Hold'em Opening Event. You'll notice the later-than-usual start time for this event, a trend that continues throughout the 888poker LIVE Madrid festival. Only Day 1d of the €888 buy-in Madrid Main Event starts before 2:00 p.m. local time, meaning you have plenty of time to explore magical Madrid or enjoy some rest and recuperation between the grind.

Speaking of the Main Event, the €888 buy-in 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event features four flights, each allowing unlimited re-entries for the first 14 levels, each spanning 40 minutes. The first of that quartet of flights begins at 4:00 p.m. local time on January 14, with the worthy champion crowned at some point on January 18.

PokerNews' live reporting team is joining the 888poker crew on the ground in Madrid, bringing you all the updates you can handle from the €888 buy-in Madrid Main Event.

Last year, this tournament attracted 403 entrants, building a pot worth €306,280. 888poker ambassador Ian Simpson started 2025 in style, emerging victoriously and claiming the €62,000 top prize for himself.

Satellites from $2.20 are running online at 888poker right now, with €110 live satellites running during the 888poker LIVE Madrid festival.
