Can Actor Kevin Hart's Set Hold for $900K Pot Against Poker Legend's Drawing Hand?
Kevin Hart, considered one of the funniest humans alive, is no joke at the poker table, which he's shown during the newly released Season 15 of High Stakes Poker on PokerGO. But the A-list celebrity's results on the show came down to one insane hand he played against poker legend Andrew Robl.
The hand, one of numerous sick pots you can catch by binge-watching all 17 episodes of the new season, was one of the biggest ever on High Stakes Poker, the iconic poker show that first launched on Game Show Network in 2006. Hart built up a bit of a rivalry with Darin Feinstein through the first few episodes, but he'd then shift his attention to Robl in a hand that will have HSP viewers and fans of the comedian talking for quite some time.
Can Comedian's Hand Hold Up Against Poker Superstar?
Robl, one of the top high-stakes cash game grinders ever, has run hot on High Stakes Poker, for the most part, minus a few hiccups. Would his rungood continue against the star of Get Hard and many other films?
The Episode 5 hand, with a $4,000 straddle on, began with Robl, the small blind, raising to $15,000 with 7♠4♠. Hart, who had J♦J♣ in the big blind, called, as did Justin Gavri, one of the show's unluckiest players, with 5♥3♥ in the straddle.
The flop came out 5♦J♠Q♠, setting up for massive pot potential. Robl, who flopped a flush draw, decided to check. Hart, with middle set, bet $35,000. Gavri folded his small pair, while Robl called to pick up an open-ended straight draw on the 6♦ turn card.
Robl again checked, and the popular actor continued seeking value with a $100,000 wager. A check-raise all-in for $391,000 total and snap-call followed. Both players agreed to run the river twice, the first the K♦ and the second the A♦, both clean for Hart, a former PokerStars ambassador, which meant he collected the entire $899,000 pot.
"He was due for one," Robl admitted as he sent the money in Hart's direction.
We won't spoil too much from the season here, but if you're a fan of Kevin Hart, we'll just say you will certainly enjoy the first five episodes, as he is active in the game. PokerNews will have weekly episode recaps of High Stakes Poker Season 15, starting with Episode 1 this week. All 17 episodes are currently available exclusively on PokerGO.
