Champions Club Winter Poker Open in Houston Has Over $1 Million in Guarantees
Exciting tournament poker action is coming to Houston, Texas in February with the Champions Club Winter Poker Open, a series that guarantees more than $1 million will be awarded.
Champions Club is one of the premier destinations for poker in the Lone Star State. The card room has played host to numerous big events the past few years, and there's another one coming on Feb. 4, and it features a $500,000 guaranteed Main Event that is certain to bring in a packed house.
Champions Club Winter Poker Open Series Highlights
The series, which runs until Feb. 17, includes 18 events and a $10,000 guaranteed Tournament of Champions to close out the festivities on the final day. It all kicks off with a $400 buy-in Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em ($100,000 guaranteed) event at 11 a.m. on Feb. 4. One additional tournament — $150 Nightly — is scheduled for the opening day.
The schedule has a little something for everyone, not just the no-limit hold'em grinders. There is a $500 H.O.R.S.E. event on Feb. 13 and multiple pot-limit Omaha contests, including the $1,100 PLO Championship starting Feb. 9, which promises at least $150,000 in the pot.
No-limit hold'em, however, will be the main attraction. There are some juicy NLH events on the schedule, such as the $2,500 High Roller and $150 Tag Team ($300 per team), both on Feb. 15.
The biggest event of them all is the $1,100 Winter Poker Open Main Event, which comes with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. There will be six starting flights, the first at 11 a.m. on Feb. 12. Days 1b and 1c run on Feb. 13, followed by 1d and 1e on Feb. 14. One final starting session — Day 1f — is a turbo flight, beginning at 8 a.m. on Feb. 15, with Day 2 starting at 3 p.m. on the same day. Day 3, the finale, takes place on Feb. 16.
