Run It Twice arrives at 888poker

You may have watched televised cash games where two of the players agree to run it twice when one of them is all-in. You can now do the same thanks to 888poker launching its own Run It Twice feature.

888poker launched its Run It Twice feature at its cash game tables on April 16. This latest innovation adds another layer of excitement to the cash game grind, while simultaneously helping to reduce short-term variance.

For those who aren't aware what Run It Twice is, let us explain it to you.

Ordinarily, if a cash game hand results in one or more players being all-in on the flop, the 888poker software deals the turn and river in the traditional way. However, if the all-in feature is activated on the flop when one of the players is all-in, two turns and two river cards are dealt.

In 888poker's video example, a player is all-in with 55 against a player holding AQ. The flop reads 5J2. Without Run It Twice activated, the turn and river fall Q and 3, and the player with pocket fives wins the hand with a set of fives.

The hand is then shown with the Run It Twice feature activated. The player with AQ requests to Run It Twice, and the player with pocket fives agrees. With the agreement in place, the turn and river come Q3, but then a second turn and river are dealt, which are the 8 and 9.

With Run It Twice activated, the player with pocket fives wins the first hand, but the player with AQ improves to a flush and wins the second hand. This results in the pot being evenly split, with each player winning half.

If the 9 on the river were the 9 instead, the player with pocket fives would win both hands and, therefore, the entire pot.

You are never obliged to run it twice when an opponent asks you to, nor do they have to agree to run it twice when you request them to.

Why 'Running it Twice' Does Not Affect Your Odds
