Roughrider Poker Tour's Montana State Poker Championship Starts May 1
A big poker event is on the horizon for those who live in or travel to Billings, Montana.
The $635 buy-in Roughrider Poker Tour Montana State Poker Championship takes place May 1-3. PokerNews will be in the house at the Billings Hotel & Convention Center live reporting the no-limit hold'em tournament from start to finish.
We'll provide regular live updates, chip counts, and a detailed report about all the action from on the ground at Montana's biggest poker event of the year.
Getting Ready for the Montana State Poker Championship
Dan Burcham is the defending champion after having taken it down last year for $29,000 following a heads-up deal with runner-up Andrew Hilleren. The reigning Montana State champion defeated a field of 283 entries for his largest career score.
There will be two Day 1 starting flights, the first on May 1 and second on May 2. Those who bagged Day 1 chips will return to action May 3 to play it down to a winner. If you're looking to get into the Championship Event for less than the buy-in, satellite tournaments are running through the weekend.
Montana Player of the Year points will be earned by those who cash, and a bracelet to the winner. For those who bust before Day 2, a $250 Second Chance tournament will take place on May 3 at noon.
Less than two weeks after the Montana State Poker Championship concludes, the Roughrider Poker Tour will head east to North Dakota for the Bismarck Moose Lodge Monster Stack Series from May 15-17.
Make sure you return to PokerNews from May 1-3 for exclusive coverage of the 2026 Montana State Poker Championship.
