Prior to the last couple of years, Adam Hahn had taken a break to focus on life outside of poker. Fortunately, the timing lined up this summer to see Hahn get hot at the right time.
Hahn followed a runner-up finish in Houston earlier this month by doing one better in the 2026 RGPS Golden Expedition Dallas series, outlasting 1,058 entrants to win the $600 Main Event for a career-best score and his very first RunGood ring.
The headlining tournament at Palace Poker featured eight starting flights that helped smash the advertised guarantee, creating a prize pool of $529,000. Hahn defeated Jason Fitzpatrick in a back-and-forth heads-up match to take home $91,456, and reflected on his journey to the winner’s circle with PokerNews after hoisting the trophy.
“I haven't played tournaments in a long time,” Hahn explained. “I used to play tournaments in college and I loved them. I did pretty well back then, and I just got busy with work and life and, you know, kids. So it's been probably 10 years since I did any kind of serious tournament play.”
Hahn credits his family for allowing him to return to the felt, and had his father cheering him on every step of the way this week.
“He's retired, so when we get a chance to go to a tournament and you know he plays a little $1-$2 and rails while I play the tournament. It just gives me a little support system and it's just a lot of fun.”

Successful Return to Tournament Poker
Hahn has been keeping busy with his vehicle sales business in the Dallas area, along with his three kids, but took full advantage of the recent opportunity to get back into the game.
“It's really nice and fortunate to be able to break away from that for, you know, just having the ability to come play a couple of days in the tournament is nice. I appreciate, you know, my wife and her support system and taking care of the kids.
When asked about what inspired him to chase the poker dream again, Hahn asked his father for a reminder as he tried to gather his thoughts after the win.
“I kind of wanted to see if I could do it again, you know, like back in college. I enjoyed it a lot and I got busy and life took over It was just kind of coincidence that I had a couple of days off at the right time [earlier this month]. I had some time to play day one and so I was like let me see, take a stab at it and see what happens.”
“So more or less convenience and coincidence that I had a little bit of time off, and of course life support system to balance the home life. But yeah, just a little bit of time off and at the right time and, and these things came together.”
Doubling Down at RGPS Dallas
Hahn began the final day in the middle of the pack, and remained there by the time the 128 returning players had been trimmed to the final three tables. As the pay jumps became more significant, Hahn began catching some cards and climbing up the leaderboard.
In addition to securing a spot at the final table, Hahn took part in the PLO high hand flip for the last nine players. He came out on top to earn a $2,000 RunGood in Aruba travel package, which he is excited to take advantage of at the Caribbean Poker Series event next month.
“Incredible. They said a trip to Aruba. I mean, obviously the kids would love that, and I'm excited to get that email.”
After starting the final table with a win, Hahn parlayed that into a run to the top of the counts. He came from behind to survive against Fitzpatrick, and followed that by spiking another river to survive.
The heads-up match started even and did not last long, but both players took turns on the verge of the title. Hahn hit another river to make a straight, before dominating Fitzpatrick in the final hand to clinch the title.
Hahn celebrated with his father, along with some friends at Palace Poker, and hopes the winning ways continue the next time he fiinds the right days off to chase another victory. As for his plans with the winnings, Hahn already had his family in mind.
“Well, I have kids, so that soaks up a lot of it. So it won't change my life, but hopefully it'll change theirs.”
