A new name, two Main Events and $2.3 million (₩3.1 billion) in guarantees await poker players heading to Jeju this October.
K Poker Cup and King Poker Cup have officially joined forces under the KPC Poker banner, and the newly unified tour will make its first major appearance at LES A Casino in Jeju, Shinhwa World from October 10-21.
The 12-day festival is certainly not starting small, with buy-ins stretching all the way to the $60,000 Super High Roller.
There are also two very different Main Events to chase. The ₩1.3 million KPC Main Event comes with an ₩880 million guarantee, while a $15,000 King's Main Event sees out the end of the festival.
Players making the trip can also choose from several packages combining tournament entries, credits and hotel stays. PokerNews has taken a closer look at those offers separately, including a promotion that gives players complimentary accommodation for the entire festival when they pre-pay $70,000 in tournament buy-ins.
From ₩800K Bankroll Builder to $60K Super High Roller
One look at the schedule shows the range KPC Poker is going for with its first festival under the new name. Things begin on Saturday, October 10 with the ₩800,000 KPC Bankroll Builder, which has ₩180 million guaranteed across three opening flights.
Just 90 minutes after the first cards are dealt in that event, the $5,000 King's Debut gets underway with a considerably larger $1 million guarantee.
The King's Debut was a major part of previous King Poker Cup festivals, and its return gives the opening weekend one of the biggest guarantees of the entire series. Three starting flights are spread across October 10-11 before the final day on October 12.
By that point, the KPC Main Event will already be underway. Six flights are available between October 11 and October 14 for the ₩1.3 million Main Event, including evening turbo options. Players making it through those opening flights return for Day 2 on October 15, with the winner crowned the following day.
There is ₩880 million guaranteed, making it the biggest KRW-denominated guarantee on the schedule.
The middle of the festival marks a noticeable shift to bigger buy-in events. A ₩5 million High Roller with ₩420 million guaranteed begins on October 12, followed a day later by the first $25,000 Single Day Super High Roller.
And then comes the biggest buy-in on the schedule. The $60,000 King's Super High Roller starts on October 14 and continues into October 16, sitting at the top of a high roller programme.
There's a $15,000 Single Day High Roller Turbo on October 15 and a $20,000 Crown Hunt the following afternoon before another of the festival's headline tournaments begins.
The $15,000 King's Main Event gets underway on October 17. There are only two starting flights. Day 1A takes place on Saturday, October 17, Day 1B follows on Sunday, and the remaining players combine on October 19. The champion will be decided on October 20.
A $30,000 Final Coronation starts on the same day as the King's Main Event final table, while the festival concludes on October 21 with a $20,000 Single Day Super High Roller.
KPC Poker is also cutting the administration fee in half on a selection of tournaments for players who register and are seated before the event begins.
The promotion applies to 17 tournaments or starting flights across the festival, including the King's Debut, $60,000 Super High Roller, Poker Players Championship and both flights of the $15,000 King's Main Event.
Eligible events are identified by a gift-box symbol on the official schedule.
Add in the various hotel and tournament packages available to travelling players, and there are several incentives to get plans sorted before arriving in Jeju.
