partypoker Monster Series Ends Jun. 9; Four Championship Events Scheduled

The $2.5 million guaranteed Monster Series[/URL] concludes at partypoker this Sunday, June 9th, with four Championship Events that have $460,000 worth of guaranteed prize pools despite the highest buy-in being only $55.

Monster Series is partypoker’s low-to-mid stakes poker tournament festival. This edition of Monster Series kicked off on Jun.2 and will have seen 108 events take place by the time the final tournament concludes on Jun. 9.

Buy-ins for Monster Series events start at only $1.10 and increase up to $55, making the entire series one of the most affordable anywhere online. partypoker hasn’t scrimped on the guarantees for Monster Series despite the low buy-ins, with several tournaments featuring $50,000 an $75,000 guarantees throughout the festival.

Jun. 9 sees the curtain come down on what looks to be a hugely successful Monster Series. Three days of the series remain and partypoker has already paid out more than $1.7 million. Friday and Saturday’s Monster Series events have combined guarantees of $400,000 with the final day, Sunday, featuring $740,000 worth of guaranteed prize pools.

Four Championship Events Run On Jun. 9

The reason the guarantees are so substantial is that four Championship Events are scheduled. Think along the lines of a Main Event and you’ll get close to what Championship Events are.

Three of these Monster Series Championship Events start at 5:00 p.m. on Jun. 9 and cost $2.20, $11, or $55 to enter. For that affordable sum, players get the chance to play for a share of $10,000, $50,000, and $200,000 respectively. The fourth and final Championship Event is a $55 buy-in PKO with $200,000 guaranteed.

PKO, or Progressive Knockout, tournaments are nothing new in the online poker world, although partypoker’s PKO events are unique. First, partypoker does not charge any rake on the bounty element of the buy-in, which in turn makes the bounties larger than elsewhere and reduces the overall rake.

Second, the player finishing in first and second place receive a similar prize – usually within a handful of dollars – leaving the heads-up duo to fight it out over what is now a sizeable bounty payment.
