World Poker Games Asia Announces Long-Term Partnership with CTP for Debut Taiwan Series
Table Of Contents
The Asian poker calendar has a massive new addition this May as World Poker Games (WPG) Asia prepares to launch its inaugural festival.
Running from May 23 to 31, the WPG Taiwan Series arrives with a clear statement of intent: a 10,000,000 TWD (~$310,000 USD) Guaranteed Main Event.
This festival marks the official start of a long-term strategic partnership between WPG Asia and the Chinese Texas Hold'em Poker Association (CTP) as the duo aim to redefine the poker experience in Taiwan for years to come.
The Partnership: WPG x CTP
WPG Asia enters the market with a "player-first" philosophy, and their choice of partner reflects that ambition. CTP, the operator of the prestigious Asia Poker Arena (APA) in Taipei, has been the driving force behind the regional poker boom.
This new alliance is built on a multi-year commitment, ensuring that WPG becomes a staple brand in the CTP portfolio and a recurring highlight for players across Asia.
The Main Event Spotlight
The crown jewel of the series is undoubtedly the WPG Main Event (Event #33). Carrying a 10,000,000 TWD guarantee, the tournament is designed to attract a massive field through its accessible 22,000 TWD (19,800 + 2,200) buy-in.
Starting on May 27, the Main Event features five opening flights (Day 1A through Day 1E), providing players with multiple opportunities to bag a stack for Day 2. With 40,000 starting chips and levels stretching to 45 minutes on Day 2, the structure is built for deep-stack play, rewarding skill and patience on the road to crowning WPG’s first-ever champion.
A Packed Festival Schedule
While the Main Event is the primary draw, the nine-day series offers 58 numbered events and satellites, ensuring action for every bankroll:
- The Kick Off (Event #1): A 2,000,000 TWD GTD event to get the series started (10,000 TWD buy-in).
- Super Star Challenge (Event #3): A 1.5M TWD GTD high-stakes battle for the series' early leaders (77,000 TWD buy-in).
- High Roller Action: The schedule is peppered with Single Day High Rollers and a 66,000 TWD Super High Roller to close out the series.
- Variety Formats: Players can find PLO 6, Short Deck, Win the Button, and Hyper Turbo events throughout the week.
