Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Terrance “TJ” Reid currently lives on the West Coast, though more often than not, he’s traveling for poker as either a member of the poker media (he’s a former PokerNews live reporter) or as a player. He graduated from Idaho State University with a B.A. in creative writing.
As Reid, himself, wrote: “I value expression and finding new ways to convey ideas, emotions, and stories. Writing has always been a passion, and I've used that passion in many different ways. I grew up in an atypical, religious household that did not value college or higher education of any sort. Once stepping away from that environment, I spent much of my early career years searching for a place in this world. That search led to varied experiences in a variety of fields.”
At the end of 2025, Reid had $3,704,374 in lifetime tournament earnings according to The Hendon Mob. That included $3 million for finishing fourth in the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise Super Main Event. That score came a month after he finished runner-up in the 2025 NAPT PokerStars Open for $99,090.
In August 2024, Reid became a RunGood Poker Series champion when he topped a 455-entry field to win the RGPS Million Dollar Main at Thunder Valley for $192,755.
Reid often shares his poker adventures in his “Torching with TJ” vlog that can be found on YouTube under “tjreidpoker.” Aside from poker, Reid is a board game and sports enthusiast. In fact, it’s not unusual to spot him on either a golf course or disc gold course.
