Biography

Vince Van Patten is a poker commentator for the World Poker Tour (WPT) and a former professional tennis player.

The son of actor Dick Van Patten, who himself hosted the World Series of Poker (WSOP) on ESPN from 1993-1995, the younger Van Patten got his start in poker broadcasting in 2002. Commentating alongside the late Mike Sexton, the duo built a name for themselves that became synonymous with the WPT brand.

While Sexton, who passed away in 2020, left WPT in 2017 to return to his roots at partypoker, Van Patten is still in the booth and has no plans of leaving any time soon.

"I will always love poker," Van Patten told PokerNews in February 2022. "I don't know exactly where I'll go with the commentating and hosting down the road and all that, but I just love the game and the World Poker Tour, and am excited that it grew like this."

In addition to commentating, Van Patten also takes the occasional seat at the poker table and earned his biggest cash in 2015 from a 14th place finish in the WPT Choctaw Main Event for $40,532. Five years earlier, Van Patten finished 481st in the 2010 WSOP Main Event for $27,519.
