Chattha and Akadiri

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Chaz Chattha
Chaz Chattha

Two seasoned professionals in Charles Akadiri and Chaz Chattha (pictured) just clashed at the table which Arron Fletcher is crushing. However, without Fletcher being involved, both men looked desperate to add to their stacks.

After the original aggressor from middle position made it 25,000 to go, Akadiri called on the button and Chattha made it up from the small blind. The flop of {5-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts} saw all three players check, but on the turn of {J-Spades}, Chattha made it 42,000 and only Akadiri called.

The river of {9-Hearts} had the potential to complete both a straight or a flush, and Chattha bet 68,000. Akadiri looked his opponent up and down.

"Did I let you get there?" he asked, eventually choosing to fold, declaring "pocket tens."

"Pick one if you like." said Chattha, and Akadiri - using Fletcher as his hands - chose a card, which was the {8-Clubs}.

"Do you call if I jam on the turn?" asked Akadiri.

"No, no." says Chattha. But Akadiri can read little from his fellow professional's response. Chattha has been playing poker for a living for ten years, and cashed for $250,000 in one year a few years ago. Times have changed for the former Hit Squad member, so stay tuned to this page for an exclusive chat with Chattha later on.

Yang Flushes Two Away!

Yimin Yang has punched the air in delight after busting two players in the biggest pot of the tournament so far here in London.

We joined the action at the post-flop stage where three players were all-in, with Farhan Khan committed from pre-flop with {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and up against an unknown player with pocket aces who went all-in on the flop. Yang himself held {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} with the flop showing {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

Yang openly called for a diamond, and the dealer found it, dropping {10-Diamonds} on the turn to a whoop from Yang and extreme disappointment from the gentleman with aces. Khan still had a chance at finding the full house on the river, but missed his four outs.

Yimin Yang now has 901,000 and a real shot at the title!

Fletcher Finds the Call

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Arron Fletcher has made yet another good call here on Day 2 as he continues to eat into Graham Hawkes' lead at the top of the chip counts.

Fletcher made it 24k from the cut-off pre-flop and only the big blind called. The flop of {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} saw Fletcher and his opponent both check, as they did on the turn of {5-Diamonds}. But on the river card of {6-Clubs} , the big blind player led for 32,000. Fletcher called and was shown his opponent's {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. Fletcher had {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and scooped the pot. He's up to 740,000 and in cruise control.

Watts Climbs Into Top 5 Counts

Level 17 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Steve Watts
Steve Watts

The more experienced tournament players are definitely starting to rise to the top of the chip counts here in London as Aspers Casino and the Opening Event of the 888Poker London Live Festival heats up!

Steve Watts has raised more pots than he's folded over the past orbit or so and it is clearly working. The latest effort to accumulate chips was when he raised to 22,000 from the dealer button with {2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and was called by the player in the small blind. However, after the flop fell {4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Watts laid down his deuces face-up to the small blind's all-in move!

Watts is still up to 700,000.

Blank Bubbles as Fletcher Straights

Level 16 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Ronnie Blank has become our unfortunate 'Bubble Boy' here at Aspers Casino in Stratford as everyone who remains in the Opening Event of this 888Poker London Live Festival is in the money and fighting for their share of the £138,600 prize-pool.

Arron Fletcher has dominated every table he's been at from the start of Day 1a to this point, and he opened to 18,000 from the hijack position, with Blank electing to call and leave himself 50,000 chips behind from the big blind.

The flop of {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Spades} saw both men check, but on the {J-Hearts} turn, Blank moved all-in.

"I'm sorry." said Fletcher, before calling and showing {4-Spades}{2-Spades}. Blank wasn't drawing dead, however, having flopped the set with pocket threes.

The river was the {K-Hearts} and that ended Blank's chances and put the field in the money. Fletcher is popular with the other players right now....and has 740,000 chips with which to continue his efforts at winning the title.

Watts Winning as Bubble Nears

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Steve Watts has been on a charge as the bubble draws closer and closer with just 75 players left in play here on Day 2.

He's just called the all-in from Thissa De Silva on button, De Silva moving for 80,000 with {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} and Watts calling it off with {A-Clubs}{4-Spades} .

The board of {J-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} gave De Silva more hope with every street, but he ended with the roundest number of all and joins the expectant rail.
