Volpi Leads as Day 2 Begins (full)

Kara Scott is well placed with 271,900 chips
Kara Scott is well placed with 271,900 chips

Welcome back to the Aspers 888Live Poker Room for Day 2 of the 888Poker London Live Main Event. Andrea Volpi leads the remaining 79 players into battle, with the field having been reduced over two Day 1 flights from 288 total entries to just ten tables today.

With other huge stacks such as Albert Sapiano (301,500), Aleksandar Kacharov (299,700), Kevin Allen (290,000) and Kara Scott (271,900, pictured) not far behind the lead, we'll see the lead change many times over the next nine levels or if we reach our final table before those levels are completed.

With hour-long levels throughout, we cant wait for the action to begin. Other big names such as Michael Mizrachi, Sam Grafton and Andrew Hulme all have stacks with which to attack, and we expect a big day with plenty of drama.

We'll have video interviews alongside our reporting throughout the day and the live stream running from around 12.30 local time on a half-hour delay. Cards are up at 12 noon.

Hof Heading Home

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 200 ante
Natalie Hof in her 888Poker 'Bounty Hat'.
Natalie Hof in her 888Poker 'Bounty Hat'.

German Team 888Poker ambassador Natalie Hof is out of the 888Poker London Live Main Event after getting her chips into the middle after a raise pre-flop from Chris Da-Silva and a call from a player in middle position. Only Da-Silva called Hof's move all-in, which was with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} and Da-Silva turned over pocket nines.

The flop contained three spades, giving Hof plenty of hope for a four-flush double up and a way back into contention to win the event. But the run-out wasn't kind to the newest member of Team 888Poker.

"It came brick-brick. Like always!" she joked afterwards.

While Hof is out, Da-Silva now has around 180,000 chips.

Sofia Lovgren has been eliminated, with James Parker winning the £888 bounty for busting the Team 888Poker ambassador.

Team 888Poker ambassador Sofia Lovgren has left the tournament. She was all-in pre-flop for around 80,000 with {A-Clubs}{8-Spades} and was called by James Parker with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}.

The board of {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Clubs} saw Lovgren run out of chips and Parker wins the hat saying he knocked out the top Swedish pro and her bounty, a very generous £888!

Maiolo's Kings Topple Hassabis' Aces

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Antonio Maiolo's standard min-raise was shoved on by George Hassabis for 100,000 and Maiolo called it off very quickly when it was folded round to him.

Antonio Maiolo: {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}
George Hassabis: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}

The board of {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} sent the unfortunate Hassabis home with his aces cracked in the window.

We are now on the money bubble!

Hulme Hits the Rail as Bubble Boy

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Michael Mizrachi
Michael Mizrachi

Andrew Hulme and Michael Mizrachi hadn't just been battling all day at the feature table after being together on the outer table they have shared since Day 2 kicked off.

Pre-flop, Mizrachi opened to 10,000 from under the gun. He was called by Hulme on the button and one other player. On a flop of {8-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}, Mizrachi made it 16,000 and only Hulme called. The turn was the {K-Diamonds} , and Mizrachi made it 45,000 after Hulme checked.

Hulme made the call, but on the {Q-Clubs} river, Mizrachi's move all-in put him into the tank. With action paused on the other side of the room, everyone inside the 888Live room seemed to hold their breath. Eventually, Hulme called with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}....but was shown Mizrachi's {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} and that was good enough to take it down.

"I got him," said Mizrachi as we spoke to him about the hand afterwards. "He was good. I didn't think he'd bubble. I have 530,000; now I can win."

Mizrachi and Hulme went to war at the felt for most of 24 hours, but one man has prevailed -Michael Mizrachi. He has every chance of taking down this 888Poker London Live Main Event.

Veselov Vanquished as Dinner Break Begins

Kara Scott is flying high again at the Dinner Break

Andrey Veselov moved all-in and was in bad shape, committed for his tournament life with {J-Diamonds}{K-Spades} and way behind his caller, Luke Hayward, whose {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs} was in front. There is stayed and we were down to 26 players. Here are some of the prominent chip-stacks.

We'll be back in an hour when play resumes at 7.50pm local time. We'll have three more hour-long levels before players will be bagging and tagging.

Grafton Takes Some of Scott's Chips

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 500 ante

Sam Grafton and Kara Scott clashed in a big pot. The flop of {3-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} arrived with 53,000 in the pot already, and Kara Scott made it 18,000 to see a turn from the hijack position. Grafton called from the cut-off and the turn was {7-Hearts}. Scott checked, but Grafton made it 83,000. Scott called.

The river was a {4-Clubs} and Grafton, checked to again, made it 210,000. It would be two thirds of Scott's remaining chips to call and she elected to pass. She was right too, as the stream revealed that while Kara Scott had {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}, Grafton held pocket eights and had flopped middle set.

James Parker Eliminated in 19th Place for Cash and a Bounty!

James Parker with the bounty player he emilinated, Swedish Team 888Poker ambassador Sofia Lovgren
James Parker with the bounty player he emilinated, Swedish Team 888Poker ambassador Sofia Lovgren

James Parker told us about his exit from the 888Poker London Live Main Event, where he knocked out Sofia Lovgren to win the £888 Bounty and the hat proving what he achieved!

"I lost a 300k pot before the break when the other player raised to 25,000 on the button and I called in the big blind with {Q-Spades}{5-Spades}. The flop came {K-Spades}{J-Spades}{10-Hearts} and I called 65,000. The turn of another king saw him bet 150,000 and I called again. The river was a queen, and I called it off. He had Ace-King. I then lost my last 100k to Enzo [Del Piero] when I shoved {Q-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and couldn't hit against his {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}."

It was a great run from James, and as well as cashing for £2,260, he also bumps that up with the £888 Bounty. A great weekend!

Shah Raza Leads 888Poker London Live Main Event Day 2 After Late Drama!

Level 18 : 6,000/12,000, 1,000 ante
Kara Scott still in contention
Kara Scott still in contention

After a long and exciting Day 2 of poker action in the 888Poker London Live Main Even, Shah Raza ended at the top of the leaderboard with just 14 players remaining.

The action was fast and friendly from the kickoff, with players still some way from the 36 money places. Sam Grafton took the most advantage of the early skirmishes as the vivacious personality eliminated Martin Spearing when the latter's ace-king walked into the pocket rockets of Grafton.

The first Team 888Poker ambassador to exit was Natalie Hof when she lost a coin flip. She was followed out of the door by fellow German and three-time WSOP bracelet winner Dominik Nitsche before the bubble was even close.

Arron Fletcher lost a huge half-million-chips pot to Albert Sapiano when the latter shoved all-in with two-pair. Fletcher, who until that point had hardly put a foot wrong in the tournament, believed his opponent was on a flush draw and made the call. Sapiano led after that, but not for long as a series of hands saw him exit soon afterwards. Others such as Chris Da-Silva and Sinem Melin followed, with the unfortunate Melin running pocket kings into a set on the flop to lose a massive half-million chip pot.

When it got to the bubble, the field was a split of strong players with big stacks looking to apply pressure and short stacked players looking to survive it. As it happened, Michael Mizrachi managed to eliminate fellow poker pro Andrew Hulme on the bubble when his two-pair beat Hulme's top pair.

Players such as Daniel James and James Phillips were only too grateful. They cashed but busted soon after and the race to end with the most chips at the closing of the day really began. Enzo Del Piero made a run for the lead when he was all-in and at risk with pocket sevens against two players and over cards, but he survived. Sam Grafton took the captain's armband at the feature table with Mizrachi's own elimination (ace-queen against sevens, no luck), but he would not end with it.

Michael Mizrachi finished in 25th place (£1,780)

Kara Scott was laying low for the first couple of levels, got unlucky a bit but bounced back in the last level, ending the day with 315,000 in chips.

Shah Raza stayed out of the way of damage for much of the day but made the most of his time at the feature table to end as the only player above a million chips bagging 1,153,000. He'll have a lot of competition on the final day, with Charles Chattha (922,000), Sam Grafton (900,000) and Cristian Mihu (852,000) in particular hunting him down.

It's the impressive Raza who has the lead, and with just five players needing to depart for the final table to be formed, we expect the action to be fantastic when play resumes at 1pm local time here in London on Sunday. The first level on the schedule is 8,000/16,000 with a 2,000-ante. The remaining 14 players are guaranteed £3,010 but are all gunning for that £50,000 ($61,160) first place prize.
