Predaroli Doubles Through Kellner

Level 10 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Kelly Kellner has just been unluckily outdrawn by Alessandro Predaroli. The former was all-in with the covering stack, holding {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against the younger man's {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. but the board ran out a gut-wrenching {6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs} to river Predaroli a lifeline in the tournament.

"Still 50,000, it's plenty said Kellner, but the announcement lacked some of the sparkle of earlier chip updates. No-one likes losing in that spot, especially from the turn onwards.

Martinez Busts Kellner

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kelly Kellner held the chip lead not long ago, but Teas Hold'em has proved how quickly poker can change yet again here on Day 1a of the 888Live Barcelona Main Event.

Raising pre-flop , Kellner got calls from Marwan Salmoun in the next seat and Lucia Martinez who had limped before Kellner's opening bet.

The flop of {J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades} saw Kellner move all-in with {J-Spades}{3-Clubs} and he was called by Martinez' {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}, which held when an ace fell on both turn and river. The table just got considerably less animated, but Martinez won't care ajot, moving within range of a six-figure stack with a level to go.

Martinez Ruling the Table

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Lucia Martinez has taken some from Alessandro Predaronli after the latest hand at what is a very action table.

Predaroli made it 2,500 pre-flop, but Martinez raised in late position to 6,500. Predaroli called, but on the flop of {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, he folded to Martinez' bet of 9,000. That tips her over the 100,000 mark, but Predaroli still has way more than the 67,000 average in the room.

Davas Gets Lucky

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Max Rotko
Max Rotko

Basem Davas eliminated an unfortunate Max Rotko on the cusp of Level 12 when Rotko's shove over Davas's opening bet of 3,800 for a total of 34,800 was called by the original aggressor.

Basem Davas: {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Max Rotko: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

The board of {A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} saw Rotko openly invite intimacy on the flop and by the river, he exalted "Casinos are rigged" as he made his way from the room. Awful timing for Rotko to run out of luck, but Davas jumps to 91,500 and looks in cruise control to reach Day 2 with 30 minutes to play.

Zajmovic Up and Down But Survives

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Ema Zajmovic in action on Day 1a of the 888Live Barcelona Main Event
Ema Zajmovic in action on Day 1a of the 888Live Barcelona Main Event

Ema Zajmovic moved all-in from the hijack position with {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and was called only by her opponent in the cut-off with {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The flop of {5-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts} got Zajmovic out of her seat and ready to depart, with the immediate effect of the the {Q-Diamonds} landing on the turn. the inconsequential {8-Hearts} river saw Zajmovic double-up to over starting stack for the first time in hours and she knew the magical properties of her stand on the turn.

"You just need to stand up, just start to squat and it comes!" she laughed. The rest of the table did likewise, but deep down maybe they're not quite so happy as they appear about such a dangerously talented player riding with the for the last rollercoaster 20 minutes of play.

Panchev Crushes Kurko

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Kimmo Kurko moved all-in on the button for 21,100 (10 big blinds) and Hristian Panchev re-shoved in the small blind for at least four times that amount. Marwan Salamoun considered calling in the big blind, but let it go.

Kimmo Kurko: {K-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Hristian Panchev: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The flop of {2-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{A-Clubs} gave Panchev a big lead, but opened up the Broadway draw to a queen for Kurko. Sadly for him and his rail, the {K-Diamonds} turn and {7-Diamonds} river didn't fulfill those hopes and he was busted. Panchev is one of the larger stacks in the room now.

Balazs Somodi
Balazs Somodi

Pre-flop, Carlos Avila Ortega, one of the chip leaders in the room made it 5,000 from the cut-off. Balazs Somodi raised to 13,000 and Ortega made it 25,000. Somodi called.

The flop of {K-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Spades} saw Ortega bet 20,000 and Somodi shipped it all-in for around double that. Ortega called.

Avril Ortega: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Balazs Somodi: {J-Clubs}{3-Clubs}

The turn was a blank, but Avila Ortega was shell-shock when the {3-Diamonds} appeared on the river to give Somodi trips threes for a huge upset.
