Main Event Day 1c
Main Event Day 1c

PokerNews is focusing on the Main Event today but there are plenty of other events running over the 888Poker Festival at Aspers.

Currently running is the great game of Pot Limit Omaha for those who prefer four cards which has attracted 26 runners so far.

Tomorrow is Day 2 of the Main but it also features "The Whale" which is a £110 buy-in running at 5 p.m. and of course the Ladies Event at 7 p.m where the prize is an amazing $13,000 WSOPE package.

Two More Notables

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

Andrew Christoforou has just hot-footed it from an event in Luton to late reg the Main here or, as he put it, "Driving around the country losing my money to people at poker."

Alex Goulder also later regged but he is a man of few words. Well fewer than Christoforou which isn't that hard.

Mohammed Suhail Takes a Big Pot Amid Controversy

Level 6 : 400/800, 100 ante

The floor was called to make a ruling at Mohammed Suhail’s table a short time ago when he complained that another player at his table did not have his big chips out front. The floor ruked that the chips were clearly visible and there was no problem. Suhail disagreed and the argument was still rumbling on when Suhail was involved in a pot on the river and the floor was again called.

The board showed {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}.

Suhail had bet and his opponent had called. Suhail showed {a-Spades}{10-Spades} for rivered trips and wanted to see his opponents hand but he was reluctant to show. The floor was in the middle of explaining that the casino rule was to show on rivers that get to showdown.

“Fine,” his opponent said and tabled his losing {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

"I just wanted to see if you had ace king," Suhail said of the river call.

Suhail is making chips at the table but not necessarily friends.
