Day 2 Started

Welcome to Day 2 of the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event

Casino Barcelona
Casino Barcelona

Welcome to the penultimate day of the 888poker LIVE Barcelona €1,100 Main Event at Casino Barcelona.

While the weather is a bit rainy today, the 196 players that qualified into Day 2 don't mind as they have a huge six-figure prize in mind to compete for today.

Yesterday, the €500,000 guarantee was smashed by more than 40 percent with the total field size growing to 704 entrants. The field will grow a little bit more with late registration allowed until the first cards are in the air at 2 p.m.

Turkish high roller and Day 1b chip leader Orpen Kisacikoglu currently has an edge on the field after bagging 381,900 in chips. Not too far back are Day 1a chip leader Gianny Dominque Morano and Day 1b qualifier Gianny Dominique Morano.

There will be at least three 888poker Ambassadors in the field with 2014 WSOP Main Event champion Martin Jacobson bagging chips on Day 1a and Fernando Pons and Parker Talbot doing the same in Day 1c.

Players will also have more time with blind levels increasing every hour throughout the day. This represents a 33 percent increase from the 45-minute blind levels featured during each of the three opening flights.

The action will begin at Level 13 with blinds at 1,500/3,000 with an ante of 400. A maximum of 10 blind levels will be played. However, play may end earlier as the tournament director has the discretion to stop play after the action is down to two or three tables.

The total prize pool and payouts will be released early in the day after the total field size is determined.

In addition to the Main Event, two side events will kick off today. The €333 Whale €40,000 GTD starts at 3 p.m. and the €220 Ladies Event €2,000 GTD starts at 7 p.m.

Stay tuned at PokerNews as we bring you the last two days of action at the 888poker LIVE Barcelona Main Event.

Strike Three for Talbot

Parker Talbot
Parker Talbot

It's strike three for Parker Talbot and he is one of the first players eliminated on Day 2.

He fired three bullets yesterday with his third one coming near the end of the day. He was able to double up and come into today with 24 big blinds.

Talbot shared with PokerNews that he got it all-in with {A-}{K-} on a {A-}{K-}{10-} board. His top two pair weren't looking that good when his opponent called with {Q-}{J-} for a straight.

Unfortunately for Talbot, he was unable to hit any of his outs to improve his hand to a full house. We will likely still see Talbot but on the sidelines in the commentary booth during the next two days.

Navarro Perez Out Flushes Aleksandar Abutovic

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante

Aleksandar Abutovic jammed for about 45,000 with about 25,000 in the pot on a {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop, Manuel Navarro Perez went into the tank and as his time clock wound down used a time bank chip.

With seconds remaining, Navarro Perez made the call.

Navarro Perez: {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Abutovic: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Abutovic was ahead with both a pair and a flush draw. However, Navarro Perez held a better flush draw. Navarro Perez made a fist pump in the air after the {2-Clubs} appeared on the turn to give both players a flush.

Abutovic was drawing dead and he was officially eliminated from the tournament after the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Top Two for Dogra Dogra

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 300 ante
Martin Jacobson

Petru Tarlev opened for 6,500 from under the gun. After letting half his time bank wind down, Harcharan Dogra Dogra called from the big blind.

Dogra Dogra checked the {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop before Tarlev bet 7,000. Dogra Dogra let most of his time bank wind down before he pushed most of his stack for a raise to 45,000.

It was Tarlev's turn to use his time bank. After it winding down to single digits he folded.

Dogra Dogra smiled and first showed his opponent he had {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} for top two pair before he turned over his hand for the rest of the table to see.

Meanwhile, at the same table, 888poker Ambassador Martin Jacobson has built his stack up to around 165,000.

Day 1a chip leader's stack Gianny Dominique Morano took a slight dent. He opened from early position before he called a three-bet jam for 15 big blinds from Martin Asim Wrulich.

Morano: {A-Spades}{J-Clubs}

The {10-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} board ran blanks for both players and Wrulech doubled up.
