Who Will Take Down the 2018 888poker LIVE Festival London £2,200 High Roller?

Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

The most-expensive event of the 2018 888poker LIVE Festival London at the Aspers Casino in the Westfield Stratford City has already smashed the guaranteed prize pool of £50,000 and more than doubled that thanks to 61 entries on Day 1 of the £2,200 High Roller. There were 51 unique players and 10 re-entries, and that field is certain to grow further as the registration remains open until the start of Day 2 at 5 p.m. local time.

One player that will certainly take a shot at the High Roller title in London is 888poker ambassador Dominik Nitsche, who is expected to arrive before Day 2 kicks off and confirmed that on Twitter. Nitsche, along with all other new entries, will start the final day with 20 big blinds as the action recommences with blinds of 2,500/5,000 and a big blind ante of 5,000.

Six Brits are at the top of the counts heading into Day 2, led by Yiqian Song (433,500), Ajay Kejriwal (407,500) and Gerald Ringe (396,500). Further big stacks and notables still in contention include Vadim Cojocaru (334,500), Chris Da-Silva (274,000), , Matas Cimbolas (226,000), 2018 WSOP Europe Main Event champion Jack Sinclair (157,500), Michael Mizrachi 148,000), Thomas Muehloecker (114,500), and Orpen Kisacikoglu (89,000).

Team 888poker will be represented by Martin Jacobson (203,000) and Chris Moorman (31,000).

The tournament is scheduled to play down to a champion tonight and the first of five Main Event starting days kicks off at 6 p.m. local time. All levels last 30 minutes each and will increase to 40 minutes once the final table has been reached. The PokerNews live reporting team will focus on the High Roller action and provide the Main Event 1a chip counts once all players have bagged and tagged for the night.

Sinclair Among Early Day 2 Casualties

Level 10 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Jack Sinclair doubled Dominik Nitsche after he failed to get there with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} against the {K-Hearts}{K-Spades} of the 888poker ambassador. The board came {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Sinclair was left short, busted soon after to Florence Allera.

Pflock Rising Quickly

Level 11 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Pascal Pflock
Pascal Pflock

Thomas Muehloecker doubled through Ajay Kejriwal and then sent Michael Mizrachi to the rail.

New chip leader is Chris Da-Silva, who bet the {J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} turn for 45,000 and his opponent shoved for 140,000. Da-Silva used two time banks and called with {A-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, Cojocaru only had {A-Diamonds}{10-} and the river was the blank {K-Spades}.

One table over, Pascal Pflock three-bet the button and called the shove of Florence Allera.

Florence Allera: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Pascal Pflock: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

The board came {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{2-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Allera was eliminated.

Pflock was barely done stacking his chips when he looked up the shove of Enzo Del Piero with {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Del Piero held the {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and found no help on the {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board.

Jacobson Eliminated by Pflock

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Martin Jacobson
Martin Jacobson

Martin Jacobson was all in for what appeared to be 160,000 on the button and held the {A-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}, Pascal Pflock in the big blind had him dominated with {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}.

The {K-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} left Jacobson drawing to running outs and he got a huge sweat with the {6-Hearts} turn, however, the {2-Spades} river was a blank.

Cimbolas Busts Hunter and Ward

Level 12 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Matas Cimbolas
Matas Cimbolas

Ludovic Geilich and Christopher Yong had been eliminated and a three-way all in over on table one put Philip Ward and Ian Hunter at risk.

Ian Hunter: {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}
Philip Ward: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}
Matas Cimbolas: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Hunter had reason to celebrate with the {8-Spades} in the window, but the {A-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} followed right away. Neither the {7-Hearts} turn nor the {3-Hearts} river brought a miracle and the entire pot was shipped to Cimbolas, the table broke right after.

Donoghue Doubles Into the Lead

Level 14 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Martin Donoghue
Martin Donoghue

The pot wasn't as big until the {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Spades}{2-Diamonds} turn, but then both big stacks Martin Donoghue and Vadim Cojocaru got their stacks in with Donoghue at risk for 521,000.

Martin Donoghue: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Vadim Dojocaru: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}

The {4-Diamonds} on the river was a blank and Cojocaru was left with just over one big blind.

Moorman No More

Level 14 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chris Moorman
Chris Moorman

Jonathan Clark defended his big blind against a raise by Pascal Pflock in the cutoff and check-called the {5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Spades} flop for 25,000. On the {5-Hearts} turn, Clark bet 100,000 and was called before making it 300,000 to go on the {9-Clubs} river.

Pflock called both bets and was shown the {7-}{6-} by Clark, which he had beat with {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} to drag in yet another massive pot.

Chris Moorman three-bet all in for 10 big blinds out of the big blind and Matas Cimbolas called on the button.

Chris Moorman: {K-Clubs}{J-Hearts}
Matas Cimbolas: {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}

The board came {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Cimbolas sent the 888poker ambassador to the rail.

Nitsche Out Before the Money

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche called a button raise by Thomas Muehloecker and moved all in after the {Q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Spades} flop, which Muehloecker called.

Nitsche had the {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for a gutshot while Muehloecker turned over {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for a pair of sixes. The {3-Hearts} turn and the {10-Spades} river were both blanks and the 888poker ambassador was eliminated. Only 10 players remain, five on each table, and they will combine to the unofficial final table once the next player runs out of chips.
