Gordillo Eliminated by Di Giacomo

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

With 13,000 in the middle and the flop showing {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Claudio Di Giacomo checked and Francisco Gordillo pushed for the last 12,500.

Di Giacomo asked for a count and Gordillo was about to turn over his cards as he understood call. It took just a few further seconds and Di Giacomo then confirmed he'd call the shove to create the following showdown.

Francisco Gordillo: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Claudio Di Giacomo: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The {a-Clubs} turn immediately improved Di Giacomo, and the {k-Clubs} river changed nothing anymore.

Gurrutxaga's Aces Cracked

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante
Jon Gurrutxaga
Jon Gurrutxaga

The cards were all but rushed away and the dealer announced a seat open on table 20 seat 9, which prompted the departure of Jon Gurrutxaga. Oriol Gregori was the one that received the chips and was kind enough to explain the details in Spanish.

According to Gregori, he opened and called a three-bet by Gurrutxaga, Francesco Di Profio also cold-called the three-bet. On a queen-ten high flop with two diamonds, all players checked and another diamond on the turn saw a check-raise of Gregori and the push of Gurrutxaga. Di Profio folded and Gregori looked up his countryman with {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the made flush.

Gurrutxaga had aces with the {a-Diamonds} and the river was a blank. It won't be long to see the Spaniard back in action, however, as Gurrutxaga already re-entered.

Baltateanu Chips Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Soon after entering Day 1b, Silviu Baltateanu won a significant pot and cut the recent surge of Simone Rosano down again.

The board showed {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Baltateanu bet 7,500, a reluctant call by Rosano followed and Baltateanu rolled over {a-Spades}{4-Spades} for the nut flush to scoop the pot.

Youssafi Wins a Small Pot

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

Khalil Youssafi raised to 700 and picked up two callers including Maarten Wichgers. The flop brought {q-Spades}{7-Clubs}{5-Spades} and the action checked to Youssafi, who continued for 700. Only Wichgers called and the {j-Diamonds} turn went check, check.

On the {a-Hearts} river, Wichgers check-called another bet of 1,200 and mucked when Youssafi turned over {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts} for two pair.

Besides Youssafi, there is another German in today's field in Ali Kanaan, who hails from Berlin. Among others, Kanaan faces Carmen Zainescu and Laurentiu Avram on his table.

Mehta Takes From Saar

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante

With the completed board showing {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{q-Spades}, Ankit Mehta bet 1,200 into a pot of 5,000 out of the small blind and Siiri Saar made it 5,700 to go from under the gun. Mehta gave it some thought and called without using one of his time banks and Saar turned over {7-Spades}{5-Spades} for just a pair of fives.

Mehta had that beat with {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} for top pair and added further chips to his resume on Day 1b, which he has neatly sorted in stacks of 10.
