Aleksandr Chernikov
Aleksandr Chernikov

Only 87 players out of 569 entries remain in the hunt for their share of the 35,000,000 RUB prize pool (~$500,000) in the 2019 888poker LIVE Sochi Main Event and the money bubble is looming when the action recommences at 12 p.m. noon local time in the first-ever 888poker LIVE festival on Russian soil in cooperation with Poker Club Management at the stunning Casino Sochi in Krasnaya Polyana.

The bubble is only half a dozen casualties away as the top 80 spots will receive 1,425 CSU (Casino Sochi Units, ~ 99,750 RUB, ~$1,535) for their efforts and the penultimate tournament day is scheduled to play eight levels of 60 minutes each or down to the final table, whichever of the two comes first.

Leading the field into Day 3 is Evgeniy Golenko with 862,000, closely followed by Damir Gabdullin (836,000), Ravil Khamatgareev (816,000), Aleksandr Chernikov (810,000), Alexsey Gatsko (790,000) and Leonid Semenyuk (753,000). 11 Remain in the High Roller

After Day 2 of the Main Event had wrapped up, several players that bagged up their chips headed straight back for more poker action as Day 3 of the High Roller resumed with 31 players out of 80 entries remaining. Late registration remained open for another two levels and that boosted the field to 93 entries in total.

Aleksandr Chernikov, who was among the biggest stacks in the Main Event, was the chip leader heading into the day but became one of the earlier casualties before the registration had closed. The 888poker ambassadors Sofia Lovgren and Daria Feshchenko missed out on the money, as did Fraser MacIntyre, Marat Shafigullin and Yunus Tuguz.

Sergey Stazhkov became the bubble boy and two further players cashed, 11 hopefuls remain with Karen Arutyunyan as the overwhelming chip leader. Viktor Kudinov, Vangelis Kaimakamis, Dmitry Gromov and Ruslan Mityaev remain in contention.

Nekrasov Eliminated; Gromov More Than Doubles

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Dmitry Gromov
Dmitry Gromov

Mikhail Gusev doubled for 58,000 when his {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} held up against the {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} of Evgeniy Nekrasov on a board of {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

Nekrasov had two hands before he was going to be forced all in out of the big blind and pushed for the last 16,000 the next hand. Damir Gabdullin raised to 30,000 and the players behind him all used their 30 seconds to act. Among them was also Dmitry Gromov, who then pushed for 81,000. Gabdullin asked for a count and made the call.

Evgeniy Nekrasov: {8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}
Dmitry Gromov: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Damir Gabdullin: {a-Hearts}{4-Spades}

The board ran out {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades} and Gromov had the check mark on the turn already.

Gromov Eliminated by Gabdullin

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Damir Gabdullin
Damir Gabdullin

Out of his massive stack of 900,000, Damir Gabdullin raised to 400,000 by using all his red T-25,000 chips and had everyone on the table covered by a lot. One after the other folded, except for Dmitry Gromov who used his 30 seconds to act and called all in for what appeared to be 155,000.

Dmitry Gromov: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Damir Gabdullin: {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop gave Gabdullin a gutshot, and he filled up to a pair on the {9-Spades} turn. A blank {q-Spades} came on the river and that reduced the field to the final 81 players. One table will now break and the action then continues on the money bubble.

The Bubble Bursts; Avanesyan and Metelskiy Chop Min Cash

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Vitaliy Avanesyan
Vitaliy Avanesyan

There were two all in and a call at neighboring tables and they had to wait for all other hands to finish before proceeding with the showdown.

First up, Oleg Volkov raised to 25,000 on the button and Artem Metelskiy jammed his last 82,000 in the small blind. Ilias Hadzhyiakhiaiev in the big blind reshoved for double of that and Volkov folded.

Artem Metelskiy: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
Ilias Hadzhyiakhiaiev: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

The board came {k-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Metelskiy's elimination ensured that the bubble had burst. However, he could still get half of the min cash as Vitaliy Avanesyan was at risk for 60,000 one table over against Vasiliy Tsapko.

Vitaliy Avanesyan: {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Vitaliy Tsapko: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}

There was an uproar on the {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop as both hit their set, and no miracle one outer came on the {3-Spades} turn and {3-Diamonds} river.

Volkov and Mikhno Eliminated

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Leonid Semenyuk
Leonid Semenyuk

Oleg Volkov sent over his stack to Leonid Semenyuk as his cards were already in the muck. Semenyuk had turned the nuts with {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for a jack-high straight on the {j-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} board to become the latest chip millionaire.

Right after one table over, Stepan Mikhno was all in with the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} after a {6-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} flop and Dmitryi Ilyin snap-called with the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}.

Nothing changed with the {8-Hearts} turn and {8-Clubs} river and that reduced the field to the final seven tables.

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Dmitriy Derbenev
Dmitriy Derbenev

Dmitriy Derbenev was all in for 220,000 from the hijack and Konstantin Lichagin reshoved on the button.

Derbenev tabled {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and Lichagin had another big hand in quick succession, turning over the {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}. On a board of {8-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Spades}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}, Derbenev was drawing dead on the turn and headed to the payout desk.

Next to fall from the same table was Firudin Nasirov, who had last been spotted with a mere two big blinds.

Pavel Vershinin
Pavel Vershinin

On a flop of {10-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Eduard Barsegyan ended up at risk for what appeared to be more than 250,000 as Pavel Vershinin used the power of his big stack to put pressure on shorter stacks.

Eduard Barsegyan: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
Pavel Vershinin: {k-Clubs}{2-Clubs}

The {10-Spades} turn was a blank but Vershinin spiked the {9-Clubs} river to send Barsegyan out.
