Carbone Takes From Sorensson

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Sebastian Sorensson opened to 1,100 and was called by Giuseppe Carbone and Mario Milhoes in the small blind. On a flop of {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, Milhoes check-folded to a bet of 2,400 by Sorensson and a call from Carbone. The {4-Hearts} turn brought another bet of 3,500 and a call, which then resulted in the {8-Diamonds} on the river.

Sorensson checked and a bet of 11,000 by Carbone won the pot without showdown.

"I had an ace," Sorensson said in table chat while Carbone mentioned he had a flush.

Castaignon Among the Bigger Stacks

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Salvatore Donato bet the {10-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} flop for 1,000 and Remi Castaignon made the call to see the {10-Spades} on the turn. Donato now checked and Castaignon opted for a bet of 3,100, which quickly ended the resistance of the Italian and awarded the pot to Castaignon.

With more than two times the starting stack, Castaignon has joined the early big stacks on Day 1c.

Assorted Counts

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Francesco Candelari flat-called a raise to 1,100 and Carmen Zainescu then three-bet to 3,500 from two seats over. The initial raiser made it 9,500 to go and Candelari quickly folded. Zainescu gave it some thought and came to the same conclusion.

Further assorted counts can be found below.

Kassitzky and Larkin Slipping

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante
Michael Larkin
Michael Larkin

Attila Kassitzky raised it up and picked up three callers including Alejandro Diaz Garzon from one seat over. On a flop of {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Kassitzky's continuation bet was called only by Diaz Garzon and Kassitzky then check-raised the {2-Hearts} turn from 6,000 to 17,000.

Diaz Garzon called and Kassitzky check-called a bet of 8,000 by the Spaniard on the {3-Spades} river with a big sigh. Diaz Garzon tabled {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for trips and Kassitzky mucked {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Another player to lose a chunk of his stack is Michael Larkin. Already down a lot since the last update, Larkin squeezed to 2,600 and called a reraise to 8,200. There was no betting action on the {q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop and {2-Spades} turn, Larkin then folded the {7-Clubs} river when facing a bet worth 6,500.

Cristea Has the Nuts

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

On the tail end of a bigger pot, the board showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Valentin Cristea made it 30,000 to go. His sole remaining opponent in the small blind check-called and Cristea tabled {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for the nut straight to drag in a very healthy pot and further cement his status as one of the biggest stacks.

Campedelli Busts One

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

Alessandro Campedelli had already chipped up nicely and added some further by sending a short stack to the rail. Down to around 5,000, the short stack had the best of it preflop with {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} versus {k-Spades}{q-Clubs} but Campedelli got there on a board of {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Shahar On the Rise

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

All three tournament areas in the Casino Gran Via are in use with up to 280 players registered and as such, the tables get balanced more frequently. Leon Louis can order a drink quite easily as he sits next to one of the bars and one seat over from Ran Shahar.

It was Shahar that just scooped a pot after he raised a bet of 5,200 on the {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop to 15,000 and forced a fold.

"I folded ace-seven," the player in the two seat remarked, to which Shahar replied: "She made a big raise in the blinds, you gotta respect that."

Braga Slows Down Demetriou

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

George Demetriou benefited from an incredibly active table early on and another player to chip up was Fausto Braga da Silva. Both just clashed and traded their respective spots of chip leader and second in chips.

On a board of {a-Hearts}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}, Braga had the best of it with {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} and scored a pot of more than 30,000 to pull head of Demetriou.

One for Visoiu

Level 4 : 200/400, 400 ante

On a flop of {q-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}, an Italian big stack was involved in the action with nearly two times the starting stack and Cristian Visoiu was one of two players that stuck around for 3,200 to see the {8-Hearts} on the turn. No betting action took place and the {10-Hearts} followed on the river.

This time the action checked to Visoiu and his bet of 6,100 won the pot without any resistance.
