Two Preflop Shoves, One Double Up
Level 9
: Blinds 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Gabriel Penescu raised to 4,500 from early position before Rares Cosmin Popa three-bet to 15,000 in the cutoff. Action folded to Gregory Telman in the big blind who slid forward a stack of 25,000 chips, moving all in and having both opponents covered.
Penescu gave it some thought before folding, while Popa soon joined him in the muck.
A few hands later at this table, Bogdan Berinde moved all in for 35,500 and Penescu called in the big blind.
Bogdan Berinde: A♦Q♠
Gabriel Penescu: A♣7♥
Both players hit top pair on the 6♦A♠4♥ flop, but Berinde was ahead with his queen-kicker. The board ran out 10♣6♣ and the players at the table had to double check to make sure they didn't split the pot before it was confirmed that Berinde had doubled up.
