Francisco Togores Takes the Overall Chip Lead on a Packed Day 1c of the 888poker Live Madrid Main Event

Day 1c promised to be the biggest flight yet of the €888 888poker Live Madrid Main Event, and it certainly lived up to the hype.

The Casino Gran Via poker room was packed throughout the day with hopefuls trying to make it through and secure a spot into Day 2. A total of 201 players entered the flight, nearly 60 more than the first two flights combined, with 107 players bagging up at the end of the night.

Francisco Togores flopped a flush to beat an opponent’s trip aces and score a knockout on his way to building a massive chip stack, taking the overall chip lead with 383,000. Iaron Lightbourne kept his table entertained with non-stop banter on his way to also cracking 300,000.

Soufiane Saada turned two pair to crack an opponent’s ace-king and Josh Manley’s queens for a massive double knockout in the early stages of Day 1c. He remained near the top of the leaderboard the rest of the day, ending up with 244,500. Other players returning tomorrow include Asif Warris (194,000), Carlos Diaz (179,500), David Algarra (88,500), popular YouTuber Inaki Angulo (77,500), and Jonas ten Cate (50,500).

The 201 entries on Day 1c boosted the combined field up to 346, with 173 securing a seat for Day 2 There is still a turbo Day 1d flight to come tomorrow at 1 p.m. local time. Late registration also remains open until the start of Day 2 at 5 p.m., so there is plenty of chances for the field to grow even larger by the time the prize pool is confirmed.
