Palomares Spikes the River to Stun Barone
Level 6
: Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Aaron Barone was on the button with a raise of 3,200 in front of him before Abelardo Palomares reraised to 11,500 in the big blind. Barone then reraised to 21,500, and Palomares called.
The flop came J♥2♦6♥ and Barone bet 10,500. Palomares called, and the 10♥ fell on the turn. Barone then moved all in, and Palomares snap-called for 28,000.
Palomares showed Q♥Q♣, but he was crushed by Barone's K♦K♠ and at risk of elimination. The river, though, brought the 8♥ to give Palomares a flush and the fortunate double up.
"Cooler either way," Barone said as he handed over the massive pot.
