Switzerland's "Justaduck" Wins the Tune Up

On the fourth day of the 888poker XL Inferno Series, five new tournaments were on the schedule. Most of the attention went out to the $150,000 Whale and the $150,000 Tune Up, where some big prizes were awaiting the players. Let's take a look who was crowned a winner in these events and the results of the other events that played out on Sunday.


XL Inferno #9 - $120,000 Mega Deep

At 6.30 p.m. GMT, the XL Inferno #9 - $120,000 Mega Deep started with each player receiving a massive 15,000 starting stack. After the late registration closed, there were 706 players. That made for a prize pool of $141,200, with a first-place prize of $26,828.

After several hours, the tournament reached the final table. "Kaktus26rus", "N33dCoaching" and "birdgamecray" busted in ninth, eighth and seventh place, receiving $2,344, $3,177 and $4,589 respectively.

"WorldIsOurs" from the Czech Republic finished in sixth place for $6,001 and "mannekenpis1" got $7,766 for his or her fifth place. Argentina's "stockfish9" received $11,014 after busting in fourth place and Czech Republic's "trino11" ended up in third place for $14,473.

The final heads-up between Sweden's Sluuut123 and Germany's "HomoDeus" was won by the former who secured $26,828. The runner-up had to settle for $19,768.

XL Inferno #10 - $150,000 Tune Up

After more than 11 hours of play, XL Inferno #10 - $150,000 Tune Up finally crowned a winner. "Justaduck" from Switzerland claimed the victory and the first prize of $28,819 after beating "1majomf_sz" in the deciding heads-up.

The event, with a buy-in of $160, saw 744 players register and those players made 303 rebuys to get a total amount of 1,047 entries. They created a total prize pool of $157,050 with 99 places paid. It took a while to get to the money but in the end, "1LevelAbove" was the last player finishing empty-handed.

After making the money, it took a long time before the tournament got down to the last nine. After 10 hours, the remaining nine players made the final table and went on to play for a $28,819 first prize. For "77kol0bok77" (ninth - $2,042), "LuckyBoss" (eight - $3,455) and "omnomonoomn" (seventh - $5,026) it wasn't a big success on the final table, because they left quite early.

Not much later, "nlfreddie" finished in sixth place for $6,596 after losing all of their chips with ace-queen against pocket aces. He or she was followed to the rail by "ShipGold" (fifth - $8,167) and "im_a_luckbox" (fourth - $11,700).

"Justaduck" dominated the tournament. They took a commanding chip lead against two opponents and won almost every pot played. "LivinThDream" was busted by the chip leader and had to settle for third place ($15,548). It didn't take much time to get a final decision, because the heads-up was done within ten hands. In the final hand, "Justaduck" hit a king with king-queen against ace-jack to receive the first prize of $28,819.

"1majomf_sz" had to settle for second place and a prize of $20,574.

XL Inferno #11 - $50,000 Mini Tune Up

For the players who couldn't afford the bigger buy-in ($109), there was a Mini edition of the Tune Up on the schedule. This tournament had a buy-in of just $12, and there were 4,091 players competing for a prize pool of $50,000. The final table was top heavy with all nine finalists in this tournament securing themselves of $450 while the top prize was $7,450.

That prize went to Uruguay's "ramak10ss" after beating "geniuSSSSSS" from the Netherlands in the deciding heads-up. The Dutch runner-up received $5,450.

At 20:00 GMT, the XL Inferno #12 - $150,000 Whale kicked off. After late registration closed, there were 186 registered players resulting in a total prize pool of $186,000 with a massive $42,780 reserved for the winner. More than nine hours were played before they crowned a champion.

Nine players made the final table, securing themselves of $4,650. "unbezieglar" (ninth, $4,650) "klbalex" (eighth, $5,580), 8myl8m8 (seventh, $7,440), "MortenVM_" (sixth, $9,300), "Ronaldo4112" (fifth, $11,160) were eliminated in quick succession. After that, "lasochobi" (fourth, $16,740) and "kiskutya23" (third, $22,599) missed out on the final heads-up.

Qatar's "Emveer" battled heads up against Canada's "PBD03" and in the end, the former took down the XL Inferno title after making a heads-up deal. The runner-up received $34,908 while the winner won $37,632 and was crowned the biggest winner of the series so far.
