Welcome to XL Blizzard #32 - $500,000 Main Event

XL Blizzard #32 - $500,000 Main Event
XL Blizzard #32 - $500,000 Main Event

Its almost time for the biggest Blizzard of them all - the $500,000 Main Event. The XL Blizzard series blew across 888poker starting on February 6th with $1.4 million in guaranteed prizes. It culminates in XL Blizzard #32 - $500,000 Main Event, with more than a third of the series' guarantee up for grabs in this one event.

Its been a huge series so far. The Blizzard rolled in with XL Blizzard #1 - $50,000 Opening Event. They ended up with $62,500 in the prize pool and Germany's "resilience32" took it down for just shy of $12K. Brazil's "CabecaTilt" won XL Blizzard #10 - $100,000 Tune Up for $19,092 while Latvia's "zavor4ik" pocketed $20,450 for their win in XL Blizzard #17 - $100,000 High Roller.

XL Blizzard #32 - $500,000 Main Event is what everyone has been waiting for though. Action gets underway at noon Eastern Time, or 5PM GMT. For just $250, players get 50,000 chips to compete for the half million guarantee. They'll play 20 minute levels, and have 5 hours of late registration. That includes 2nd chance rebuys as well, so action is bound to be pretty heavy in the first 10-12 levels of play.

With 10 hours to go till it all kicks off, more than 500 people are already in the game, looking for their share of the $500k guaranteed prize pool. There's nearly $100k up top for the winner right now, and PokerNews will be here to bring you the action from the first hand to the last. Tune in at 5PM GMT Sunday to find out who will be the XL Blizzard Main Event Champion.

New Chip Leader

Level 1 : 125/250, 30 ante
ahjaa takes chip lead early
ahjaa takes chip lead early

"usainzeus25" opened from early position to 500 before "ahjaa" came over top to 2,100. Chip leader "GenChampion" 4-bet the hijack to 4,200, and both other players came along to the flop.

The flop came {8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{k-Spades} and it checked to GenChampion and they potted to 13,245. The initial raiser got out of the way, but "ahjaa" smooth called. {2-Diamonds} came on the turn, and "ahjaa" checked to "GenChampion" again, calling off their stack when GenChampion bet close to the pot again.

It was a tough spot for the chip leader with {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} versus the pocket kings of "ahjaa". {5-Hearts} on the river was irrelevant, and "ahjaa" grabbed an early stack.

Action went check-check and the river seemingly bricked with {2-Hearts}. "ANARCHYFTW" bet 16,521 and "KrAvRoRa" called. "ANARCHYFTW" showed {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} and "KrAvRoRa" mucked their hand.

"callmeBOT" Holds with Tens

Level 5 : 300/600, 75 ante

"ANARCHYFTW" opened under the gun to 1,320 and "KrAvRoRa" called from the cutoff as did "callmeBOT" from the small and "davedelmar" from the big. The flop came {4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and it checked to "KrAvRoRa" who bet 1,200.

"callmeBOT" was the only caller and they both checked the {j-Diamonds} turn. They checked again on the {3-Diamonds} river, and "callmeBot"'s pocket tens were the best hand.

Meanwhile, former chip leader "ilovecrabs69" is at the same table and has dropped down a bit in the standings.

"Borderline" Takes Big Hit While "NevilleWeeee" Doubles

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 125 ante

It was another blind on blind battle, and "Borderline" raised to 2,000 from the small, with "NevilleWeeee" raising from the big to 5,800. "Borderline" called, then bombed the pot for 191,000 on the {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} flop. It didn't take "NevilleWeeee" long to put in the call for their remaining 20,878, and they were in great shape with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} versus {a-Clubs}{2-Spades} for "Borderline".

{10-Hearts}{q-Spades} on the turn and river gave "NevilleWeeee" the straight and the double up.

It checked around on the {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop and turn, but when it checked to "GritinhO_Dzi" on the {a-Clubs} river, they half-potted for 8,250.

The chip leader got out of the way, but "Ilfris" called then mucked when they saw {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

"xscope" Adds to Lead

Level 11 : 1,250/2,500, 325 ante

"xscope" opened with a limp from early, and "Breinholds" called from their left. "ILoveToPay" called in the small, and "Naspokuhe" checked their option in the big.

The flop came {3-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} and "Naspokuhe" bet out 2,500. "xscope" called, as did "ILoveToPay". The {4-Clubs} turn once again brought a bet of 2,500 from the big blind, but this time "xscope" raised to 7,500. "ILoveToPay" folded before "Naspokuhe" shoved fro 31,971. "j.sydens" Almost 700k

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

"j.sydens" raised to 8,000 from early position, and KevMess85 called from the hijack. The small blind also came along to see {q-Spades}{k-Spades}{j-Clubs} on the flop. "j.sydens" put out 26,720 after it checked to them, and "KevMess85" shoved for 186,099. The small blind mucked, but "j.sydens" called.

It was a massive cooler with "KevMess85" on {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for two pair against {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the flopped straight. The {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs} turn and river couldn't help "KevMess85" and "j.sydens" ended up with close to 700,000 chips.

Big Pot and Chip Lead for "MisterN411"

Level 15 : 3,000/6,000, 750 ante

"J.sydens" raised from the cutoff, and "MisterN411" called from the button. "NoTrustEver" three-bet to 51,000, and both players called to see {k-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} on the flop.

"NoTrustEver" led out for 57,000 and only "MisterN411" called. "NoTrustEver" checked the {j-Hearts} turn, and then called for less when "MisterN411" shoved for 344,051. The big blind was ahead with pocket aces and the flopped set, but the button was on {10-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the flush draw.

The {4-Diamonds} hit on the river, sending the massive pot to "MisterN411" as a reward for cracking aces.
