"Kannwas" Ships the High Roller ($11,500)
The XL Winter Series is in full swing at 888poker with over $1 million in guarantees across 34 action-packed events on Dec. 10-20 at 888poker.
Tuesday was the day for some of the heavy hitters with the three high rollers taking place including "Kannwas" shipping the XL Winter #17 - $50,000 High Roller for $11,500 under the watchful eyes of the PokerNews Live Reporting Team.

The XL Winter Series #17: $50,000 High Roller featured the biggest buy-in of the festival of $320. After more than seven hours of play, "Kannwas" bested a field of 154 entries to win the $11,500 top prize.
"Kannwas" began the final table in the middle of the pack and it was not long before they found themselves on top of the foodchain. Just hands after the last nine hit the table it was "Kannwas" sending the first player to the rail. They took their momentum and quickly built a chip lead stack, blasting almost every pot along the way.
There were very few bumps along the road to victory but the biggest came during heads-up play when he doubled up "oldskool555" to temporarily give their opponent the chip lead before storming back for the title.

XL Winter #17: $50,000 High Roller Action of the Day
The tournament paid out the top 18 players at least a min-cash $1,025, with the eventual winner for more than triple the buy-in. Players reached the money after Russia's "Andrey120988" ran their jacks into aces and queens to fall just short of a cash.
In a matter of minutes, it seemed the final table was reached and just moments after that it was "sllodi" dropping out first. An under the gun shove from "sllodi" with ace-deuce was called by none other than "Kannwas" who had a pair of snowmen. The board ran out dry, sending "sllodi" to the rail first, along with kick-starting the momentum of the eventual winner.
A short-stacked "pactamah23 found their chips go into the middle with ace-ten versus the jacks of "mao042" and the rest is history as "pactamah23" left in eighth place. "Octopokes" took a shot at doubling through the red-hot "Kannwas" when they shoved ace-queen. "Kannhas" called with a pair of kings and instantly flopped a third, sending "Octopokes" to the payout desk.
Another player elected to disrupt the winning ways of "Kannwas" when "ErwannP" raised with pocket nines, only to see "Kannwas" shove over the top. "ErwannP" called to see the jack-ten of "Kannwas" and was at risk of elimination. A turned ten brought the demise of "ErwannP", sending them to the rail in sixth place.
Justin "LappyPoker" Lapka was the next player sent packing when when he jammed his remaining chips into the middle with big slick. "Kannwas" called the small raise with jack-two and wound up finding two more ducks, giving him three to send Lapka out in fifth. The momentum started to switch over to "oldskool555" who was in the lead at the time. "ALLINchains" shoved over the top of an "oldskool555" raise wit ace-seven and was instantly called by pocket jacks. The runout changed not a thing, eliminating "ALLINchains".
"oldskool555" saw action fall on them in the small blind where they raised. "mao042" elected to shove from the big with ace-six and "oldskool555" snap-called with their nines. An uneventful board saw "mao042" take an exit in third place.
Heads-up play was short and sweet. First "oldskool555" doubled to take the lead and then "Kannwas" put it into overdrive, completely blasting every hand. "Kannwas" whittled down the stack of "oldskool555" steadily. Once "oldskool555" was on the shorter side of things, they moved in with a pair of kings. "Kannwas" called with ace-three. An ace on the turn sealed the win for "Kannwas" who sent "oldskool555" out the door in second for a respectable $8,000.

The XL Winter #18 - $25,000 Mini High Roller attracted 552 entrants. This created a $27,600 prize pool to smash the $25,000 guarantee.
Ukraine's "InTheAnd" took down the title for $5,296 after more than 8 1/2 hours of play. Two players waving the Union Jack flag were also on the podium including "ukla89" (second - $3,933) and "DALWHINNIE" (third - $2,898).
Meanwhile, Ian "Simpioni" Simpson made a deep run in this event only to be the first player to bow out at the final tiable in ninth place for $458.

The XL Winter #19 - $20,000 Late High Roller was the final XL Winter event of the day. The 204 entrants created a $20,400 prize pool to inch past the $20,000 guarantee.
The Belarussian dominance in the XL Winter continues as yet another winner from Belarus was crowned. This time it was "altavistt" winning the title and the $4,386 top prize after nearly 7 1/2 hours of play.
"Ilfris" (second - $3,162) and United Kingdom's "Mike8885" (third - $2,397) were also on the podium in this event.
Meanwhile, Feargus "EZ.PZ" Murphy, also appeared at the final table, although did miss out on the big money. He settled for an eighth place finish for $612.
