Germany's "kellerassel0" Leads Event: #22: $200,000 Tune Up Final Table

Level 38 : 50,000/100,000, 12,500 ante

Day 1 of Event: #22: $200,000 Tune Up came to a close after just over eight and a half hours of play with Germany's "kellerassel0" on top of the end of day chip counts. Rounding out the top three stacks are "PrincKrason" (8,153,068) and Canada's "Gaby2008" (5,429,068).

Only nine players remain and they have all booked their seat to Day 2's final table. All players who have made Day 2 have secured a minimum prize of $2,620 but of course all eyes will be on the title and $27,620 up top.

Play resumes on Monday, January 24 at 7 p.m. GMT with the action being broadcasted, with a half hour delay, on 888poker's Twitch channel.

By the end of the late registration period, there were a total of 1859 entries meaning that the tournament had a slight overlay and failed to surpass it's $200,000 guarantee. The top 240 players were guaranteed some return on their investment with a $300 min-cash.

888poker Stream Team member Jordan "BanfieldJ" Banfield hopped into the event but was an early casualty while 888poker ambassador Vivian "Vivi.888." Saliba placed in 165th for $320.

When the final table gets underway, blinds will resume at 50,000/100,000/12,500a before increasing to 60,000/120,000/15,000a shortly after.

"readge" Gone in 11th Place; Paulo_Pedros Bubbles Final Table

Level 38 : 50,000/100,000, 12,500 ante

"PrincKrason" opened to 250,000 from the small blind and then called off the all-in from "readge".

"readge": {a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
"PrincKrason": {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

The at risk player failed to connect on the runout and was eliminated from the Tune Up after his opponent's superior ace held up.

This meant it was the final table bubble and it immediately burst after "Paulo_Pedros" was despatched on the other table.

Day 1 has now closed with nine players remaining, chip counts and recap will follow shortly.

Set Over Set Benefits "PrincKrason"

Level 37 : 40,000/80,000, 10,000 ante

"petitetete" opened to 160,000 from under the gun. "Vespillo77" then jammed for 889,232 from the cutoff before "PrincKrason" four-bet jammed for 1,839,512. All the other players folded to a heads-up runout.

"Vespillo77": {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}
"PrincKrason": {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Both players would make a set on the {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} flop. Now looking for the case nine, "Vespillo77" was unable to find it on the {2-Diamonds} turn or {6-Spades} river.

Former Chip Leader "Winter__96" Eliminated

Level 35 : 30,000/60,000, 7,500 ante

Action folded around to "petitetete" in the small blind who raised to 210,000 and "Winter__96" called in the big blind to see the {9-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop.

"petitetete" contined for 160,875 and then called his opponents min-click raise to bring in the {2-Hearts}. "petitetete" then check-raised to 420,000 after his opponent bet 180,000. "Winter__96" then jammed for 1,255,043 and was snap called.

"Winter__96": {j-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
"petitetete": {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

"Winter__96" found himself drawing dead with just jack-high. The {7-Diamonds} river sealed his fate and gave "petitetete" the pot and elimination. The next hand after, "petitetete" raked in another pot to move above the 5 million chip mark.

Top Pair Versus Set Versus Set

Level 34 : 25,000/50,000, 6,250 ante

"Gaby2008" opened to 180,000 in early position before "sasasa137" went all-in for 354,905 from middle position.

The action didn't stop there as "Sergio1306" came over the top for 534,801 on the button while "mylly8" joined in the fun and jammed as the covering stack. "Gaby2008" folded to set up the three-way all-in.

"sasasa137": {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}
"Sergio1306": {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
"mylly8": {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}

Each player hit on the {k-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop, with "Sergio1306" having the best of it with a set of kings. "sasasa137" would need to hit the last seven to survive but failed to on the {q-Clubs}{a-Spades} runout to be ousted from the Tune Up.

Shortly after "mylly8" would exit the tournament in 25th place.

Level 33 : 22,500/45,000, 5,625 ante

"mylly8" opened to 90,000 in middle position and then called the 215,408 all-in from "vityel"

"mylly8" was ahead with pocket aces while their opponent had a pair of tens. The aces would hold as the board displayed {q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} once all the cards were dealt.

"madhand228" Falls To Quads

Level 30 : 15,000/30,000, 3,750 ante

"4815162342" opened to 68,904 in early position before "madhand228" jammed for 111,596. "Paulo_Pedros" then re-raised to 223,192 which the early position player called.

Action checked through on the {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop to the {q-Clubs} turn. "4815162342" checked-called a bet of 208,883 from "Paulo_Pedro" before folding to their opponent's all-in on the {7-Clubs} river.

"madhand228" surely thought they would have had the winner as they held {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts} but it was no match for the flopped quads of "Paulo_Pedro" who had {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}.

"Jack10.19" Sets Perfect Trap

Level 26 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

"Jack10.19" limped from under the gun before "finnieston" jammed for 38,046 from middle position. Action folded to DominykasJ who re-shoved for 366,011 from the big blind and "Jack10.19" snap-called.

"finnieston": {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
"Jack10.19": {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}
"DominykasJ": {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

"DominykasJ" added some outs after the {j-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop but "Jack10.19" scooped the pot for more than a double-up as well as an elimination after the board completed with the {7-Diamonds} and {7-Hearts}.

Aces Don't Hold for Saliba

Level 25 : 5,000/10,000, 1,250 ante

Action folded to "BrunoZika1" in the small blind, who jammed to put Vivian "Vivi.888." Saliba all-in. Saliba snapped called and was a huge favourite for a double after turning over pocket aces.

Vivian "Vivi.888." Saliba: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
"BrunoZika1": {q-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Saliba was still in front on the {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{4-Spades} flop but disaster struck for the Brazilian on the {q-Spades} turn. She failed to improve on the {9-Spades} river meaning her rockets ran out fuel against her opponents turned two-pair.

"BRAKPOKER" Bubbles Tune Up

Level 23 : 3,500/7,000, 875 ante

"BRAKPOKER" put in his last 4,000 from under the gun before Dominic "billy_slater" Coombe raised to 14,000 to isolate the potential bubble-boy. His raise worked and both players were off to a runout.

"BRAKPOKER": {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}
Dominic "billy_slater" Coombe: {a-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The {j-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop was not what "BRAKPOKER" was hoping for and none of his prayers were answered after Coombe took the pot after the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} runout.
