WPTDS #28 - $1,000,000 Main Event

Day 1a Completed

Second to Last Day 1 Qualifies 30 More Players for Day 2 of WPTDS #28

Level 18 : 1,000/2,000, 250 ante

The penultimate starting day for WPTDS #28 - $1,000,000 Main Event is now complete, and a total of 30 players out of 191 entries booked a seat for Day 2 on Dec 20. "AGelenski" bagged the biggest stack of this Day 1 with 166,576, but that only puts them in 6th place overall in the Day 2 standings.

They played the full 18 scheduled levels today, but they came very close to the 14% end-point. There were a total of 191 entries today, made up of 170 players combining for 21 rebuys, which meant that if they'd played down to 27 remaining, the day would have ended early.

Among the 30 players to move on to Day 2 today was 888poker ambassador Vivian "vivi.888." Saliba, who will start Day 2 with 59,984. Canadian streamer Jordan "BanfieldJ" Banfield also moved on to Day 2 with a stack of 83,557.

That makes 153 total players left in action for Day 2 at this point, with one more Day 1 to play. In total, there have been 821 entries, but if the final Day 1 is the same size as today, it should break the $1,000,000 guarantee.

Come back tomorrow for full coverage on Day 2 of the WPTDS #28 - $1,000,000 Main Event. Cards go in the air at 2 pm ET on December 20 and PokerNews will be there with all the coverage.

Banfield Chips Up

Level 18 : 1,000/2,000, 250 ante

Jordan "BanfieldJ" Banfield found a great spot at the end of the day after "87452154" shoved a small stack from early position, and Banfield reshoved the button for 36,130. "Otkazal" called from the small blind with the biggest stack, putting both other players at risk.

"87452154": {k-Spades}{6-Spades}
Jordan "BanfieldJ" Banfield: {a-Spades}{8-Clubs}

The board of {4-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs} smashed Banfield's hand, giving him more than a double-up just before the end of the day.
