"Gprovinz6" Leads as Day 1 of WPTDS #1 is Complete

Level 31 : 15,000/30,000, 3,750 ante

The final table for WPTDS #1 - $200,000 Opening Event is now complete, and nine players have secured a seat at tomorrow's streamed final table. There were 359 entries including 66 re-entries for this one, which wasn't enough to cap the $200,000 guarantee.

"Gprovinz6" managed to bag the chip lead on the very last hand of play on Day 1, and was the player responsible for ending the day. They woke up with aces and got two smaller stacks all-in at risk. The aces held strong after turning a set, and two players went out in a single hand to set the final table.

Action of the Day

The first event of WPTDS got underway at 1 pm ET today, and by the time registration closed, there were 293 entries in the pot. That meant 48 players would share in the prize pool of $200,000, with more than $40,000 up top for the win.

It didn't take long after registration closed for players to get down to the bubble. There were a few more than 150 players left in action when registration closed, but within about 90 minutes, that was down to hand-for-hand play with 49 left.

Things stalled a bit there, as they played hand-for-hand for more than a level before "alexfull13" was forced in from the big blind and found themselves dominated. No help came for the short stack, and action picked up again considerably once players were in the money. Within an hour of the bubble bursting, the final table of 9 was set.

Action resumes Monday at 7 pm GMT (2 pm ET), and PokerNews will be there with coverage along with the 888pokerTV cards-up delayed stream.

"alexfull13" Bubbles Event #1

Level 25 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

"alexfull13" was forced all-in from the big blind, and ended up running into the under-the-gun hand of {k-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for "ingeruR014". "ingeruR014" shoved under the gun for almost 300,000, and found themselves in a good spot when the rest of the table folded, and they were up against {10-Hearts}{5-Spades} for "alexfull13".

Remaining players are now all in the money and action is moving fast, with the field down to 39 just a few hands after the bubble burst.

It folded to "bettyordiane" on the button and they raised to 2,200, only to face a three-bet from small blind "wellyxx". The call was made to an all diamond {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop where "wellyxx" bet 5,000.

"bettyordiane" called and they both checked the {7-Hearts} turn. The river came {9-Diamonds} and "wellyxx" over-pot shoved for 32,000, forcing the fold from "bettyordiane".

"DaDumon" Gets There on River

All the money went in pre-flop when "PipeDreamKim" raised the cutoff, then called off with a bit more after "DaDumon" shoved from the big blind for 12,382. The small blind had called the initial raise, but got out of the way after the shove and re-shove.

"DaDumon": {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
"PipeDreamKim": {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{j-Hearts} and while "PipeDreamKim" was ahead to start and improved on the flop, "DaDumon" nailed the river jack for the best pair and the pot.

"Tedson89" Flops It

Level 10 : 300/600, 70 ante

The money went in on the {10-Clubs}{j-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop with "Tedson89" holding {j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for top and bottom pair against the {q-Clubs}{9-Spades} for "888godmode". That left "888godmode" drawing to the straight or the queen, but the {2-Spades}{a-Diamonds} turn and river bricked out for them sending a big pot to "Tedson89".

All the money went in pre-flop for a huge pot when "gusalagupagu" raised under the gun, then snapped it off after "drPokermarv" shoved for 11,674 next to act.

"drPokermarv": {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
"gusalagupagu": {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}

It was aces over ace-king, and the board ran out low for the aces to hold and put "gusalagupagu" over 30,000 chips.

"Nat8888Star" limped under the gun, then called when "gprovinz6" min-raised to 300 and "AGANYARA" raised to 1,500 from the next two seats. "KickInUrDoor" also came along from the middle to see {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} on the flop.

"Nat8888Star" checked but shoved the covering stack after "AGANYARA" bet 2,113. That was enough to push everyone out, and "Nat8888Star" regained the chip lead going into the first break.
