WPTDS #1 - $200,000 Opening Event

Day 1 Completed

"Gprovinz6" Leads as Day 1 of WPTDS #1 is Complete

Level 31 : 15,000/30,000, 3,750 ante

The final table for WPTDS #1 - $200,000 Opening Event is now complete, and nine players have secured a seat at tomorrow's streamed final table. There were 359 entries including 66 re-entries for this one, which wasn't enough to cap the $200,000 guarantee.

"Gprovinz6" managed to bag the chip lead on the very last hand of play on Day 1, and was the player responsible for ending the day. They woke up with aces and got two smaller stacks all-in at risk. The aces held strong after turning a set, and two players went out in a single hand to set the final table.

Action of the Day

The first event of WPTDS got underway at 1 pm ET today, and by the time registration closed, there were 293 entries in the pot. That meant 48 players would share in the prize pool of $200,000, with more than $40,000 up top for the win.

It didn't take long after registration closed for players to get down to the bubble. There were a few more than 150 players left in action when registration closed, but within about 90 minutes, that was down to hand-for-hand play with 49 left.

Things stalled a bit there, as they played hand-for-hand for more than a level before "alexfull13" was forced in from the big blind and found themselves dominated. No help came for the short stack, and action picked up again considerably once players were in the money. Within an hour of the bubble bursting, the final table of 9 was set.

Action resumes Monday at 7 pm GMT (2 pm ET), and PokerNews will be there with coverage along with the 888pokerTV cards-up delayed stream.

"gprovinz6" Takes Out Two to Bag Biggest Stack for Day 2

Level 31 : 15,000/30,000, 3,750 ante

Shortly after "pullztrigger" and 888poker Stream Team member Jordan "BanfieldJ" Banfield finished in 13th and 12th place respectively, a huge hand got them from 11 players left down to the final table of 9 in a hurry.

"gprovinz6" woke up with aces after short stack "LuckyBoz" and "bahenvald' both got their stacks in. The aces held, turning the set to remove all doubt, and knocking out two players at once.

The hand got "gprovinz6" the chip lead going into tomorrow's final table, which will be streamed on 888pokerTV with hole cards up on a 30-minute delay.

Down to 16 Remaining

Level 29 : 10,000/20,000, 2,500 ante

"TsarBetor" was the most recent casualty after a hand where "gprovinz6" raised to 45,000 under the gun, and "TsarBetor" called from the button. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and "gprovinz6" fired 47,025.

"TsarBetor" called to {k-Spades} on the turn, then shoved over the 78,061 bet from "gprovinz6", who called with more.

"TsarBetor": {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}
"gprovinz6": {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

"TsarBetor" turned the two pair, but "gprovinz6" still had a flush draw with the clubsm, and got there with the {6-Clubs} river.

"DosPoochies" Finds a Double

Level 28 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

The money went in on the {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} flop with both players holding flush draws, but "DosPoochies" on by far the best of it. They had {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} against {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for Michael "HyperX." Skeldon, and the rest of the board didn't change anything.
