Tobin Takes Hit

Tobin Ryall was hovering on around 250,000 for much of the last level, but now he has tripped up to around 200,000. The hand in question saw Ryall versus one opponent. Ryall held {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} and his opponent held {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and it was a loss of around 50,000 for Ryall.

Speidel Gives Up

When one player opened it up from the cutoff to 3,200, Raemin Alexander would call from the small blind, along with Oliver Speidel in the big blind.

Flop: {j-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}

On the flop, Alexander checked and Speidel led for 6,000. The other player in the hand then raised it up to 12,000 and Alexander got out of the way. It was now back on Speidel and after some thought he raised it to 30,500. Speidel's opponent then went into the tank before making the call.

The {q-Diamonds} hit the turn and Speidel again put heavy thought into his decision before opting to check. Speidel's opponent then bet 10,000 and Speidel gave his hand up.

Boxell Out As Aristidou Prospers

When we walked past Leo Boxell's table we noticed that there was another player in his chair and that Peter Arisitidou had a much bigger stack than earlier. We asked Aristidou what happened to Boxell and he let us know. Apparently Boxell lost a big pot when he and one opponent got it all in on a flop showing two hearts. Boxell had the flush draw with the {q-Hearts} and his opponent held {k-Hearts}{k-}. Boxell hit his flush on the turn, but then his opponent hit a four-flush on the river.

A few hands later it was folded to Aristidou in the small blind and he opened it up with Boxell in the big blind. Boxell then shoved all in and Aristidou made the call. Boxell was in trouble, with his {k-}{10-} having to come up again {k-}{k-}. No help came for Boxell and it was out the door.

Truong Back In The Mix

Tam Truong lost a lot of his big stack early, but he seems to have got a lot of that back. A recent hand saw Truong take to a {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} flop against one opponent.

Truong's opponent led for 3,800 on the flop and Truong then quickly popped it to 7,600. His opponent thought for quite some time before letting go of his hand.

Rowe Roaming On Up

Martin Rowe has had quite a lot of success in Sydney before, having taken down the the 2008 APPT Sydney Main Event for a huge $1,000,000. He'll be looking to have similar success here at the ANZPT and so far, so good for Rowe.

A recent hand saw the action folded to the small blind where the player shoved all in for his relatively short stack. Rowe was in the big blind and made the call.

Rowe held {j-}{j-} and his opponent held {8-}{7-}. No help came for the player and Rowe took down the pot.

Nelson Wins Big One

Lee Nelson is now sitting behind a very hand stack of around 170,000. The hand which saw him rise up the counts like this started when a player opened it up and then Nelson three-bet to 8,000. A player to Nelson's left then cold-four bet to 18,900 and the original opener put in the call. It was then back on Nelson and he moved all in for an extra 52,000. The four-bettor made the all-in call and the other player looked pained as he decided to give it up.

Nelson: {k-}{k-}
Opponent: {a-}{k-}

When the board ran out {8-}{10-}{7-}{3-}{q-}, Nelson knocked out one player and now sits with a very nice stack.

Rhys Wins The Gould

The action was opened by Rhys Gould to 4,000 and only the player in the small blind would make the call as the {k-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop was dealt on the felt.

Both players checked the flop and a {5-Hearts} hit the turn. This time Gould would bet 5,800 when his opponent checked to him. A call would see the {q-Diamonds} land on the river and this time Gould's opponent would lead for 13,000. Gould decided to raise it up to 28,000 and his opponent made the call.

Gould's opponent tabled {k-Spades}{q-Spades} for a rivered two-pair, not quite enough for the {a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} which Gould flung onto the table.
