Angela Brewster Eliminated in 10th Place (NZ$7,455)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Angela Brewster - 10th Place
Angela Brewster - 10th Place

Angela Brewster was the last lady standing in the ANZPT Auckland Main Event and has fallen just short of making the final table.

Brewster’s final hand saw her shove all in for around 60,000 after Nathan Gubieski opened to 16,000. The rest of the table was out of the way as Gubieski made the call.

Gubieski showed {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, which at this point was ahead of the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds} of Brewster.

By the time the dealer spread out a {7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades} board, Brewster’s rail were shouting for an ace, but Gubieski’s rail were shouting for a deuce.

River: {2-Spades}

Gubieski’s rail got their wish and with that Brewster was sent home in 10th place.

We are now at the final table. There will be a short break while the seats are arranged.

Dean Stevenson Eliminated in 9th Place (NZ$10,650)

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante
Dean Stevenson - 9th Place
Dean Stevenson - 9th Place

We have quickly lost our first player at the ANZPT Auckland final table!

Nathan Gubieski opened from middle position to 16,000 before Dean Stevenson moved all in from the button for his last 109,500. David Lim was in the small blind and he looked at Gubieski’s stack before announcing a call. Gubieski got out of the way and we had our first all-in clash of the final table!

Stevenson: {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Lim: {j-Hearts}{j-Spades}

The board bricked out {10-Spades}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs} to leave Stevenson to depart in 9th place for a collect of NZ$10,650 as Lim pads his stack to around 1.3 million in chips.

Some Early Eight-Handed Action

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

There hasn’t been too much action since we lost our ninth-place finisher. The following two hands were about as exciting as it got.

Firstly we picked up the action on a {3-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop, with around 50,000 in the pot and with Nicolas Oger checking out of the big blind. Amant Nauhria led for 27,500 here and Oger got out of the way.

A couple of hands later and Nathan Gubieski opened the hi jack to 20,000. David Lim called out of the big blind and the dealer spread out a {2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} flop. Lim check-called a bet of 19,000 here and then both players checked down the {8-Hearts} turn and the {k-Spades} river.

At showdown, Lim turned over {10-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and that was enough to win the pot.

Gubieski Wins Off Rimamaki

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Nathan Gubieski has just taken down a handy pot against Ia Ramamaki on a {4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{8-Spades} board. There was around 75,000 in the pot by the time the river card was dealt and at this point Ramamaki led out for 29,500. Gubieski made the call and Ramamaki showed {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs}.

Gubieski’s {a-Spades}{j-Spades} was strong enough to scoop the pot.

Ia Rimamaki Eliminated in 8th Place (NZ$13,845)

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Ia Rimamaki - 8th Place
Ia Rimamaki - 8th Place

Ia Rimamaki started the final table with a healthy stack, but lost a few small pots before finding himself quite short stacked.

Rimamaki’s final hand saw him moved all in for 49,000 after Nicolas Oger had opened to 26,000 from early position. The rest of the table was out of the way and Oger quickly called, showing his {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Rimamaki was hesitant to show his cards, but eventually turned over {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}.

Rimamamki needed some help, but it never came on the {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and with that Rimamaki was sent home in 8th place,

Rimamaki collected NZ$13,845 for that effort, which is easily his biggest live tournament result.

We are now down to seven players!

Triple Up for Stafford

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Brad Stafford has just managed to triple up and sit with a stack of just under 200,000.

Stafford was all in preflop against the big stacks of Amant Nauhria and David Lim.

The active players checked it down to the river on a {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Spades}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts} board before Nauhria bet 20,000 and forced Lim to fold. At showdown, Naurhia tabled {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a straight, but Stafford shouted in joy as he turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} for a bigger straight!

Gahan Doubles Through Stan

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Paul Gahan has just doubled up through Stanislav Chataline as Gahan is now healthy, while Chataline struggles.

Gahan jammed for 82,000 from under the gun plus one and the action folded around to Chataline on the button, who moved all in for around 150,000. The rest of the table was out of the way and Gahan was at risk.

When the cards were turned over, Gahan’s {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} was looking good against the {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} of Chataline and it stayed that way on a {5-Clubs}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} board.

Stan the Shorty Doubles

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Stanislav Chataline is the short stack at the table and was happy to recently wake up with {a-Spades}{k-Spades} in the big blind. Especially considering David Lim shoved the small blind holding {k-Hearts}{4-Spades}.

The board ran out {q-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Spades}{j-Clubs} with no sweat for Chataline as he is now back up to just over 100,000 in chips.
