Brad Stafford Eliminated in 7th Place (NZ$18,105)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Brad Stafford - 7th Place
Brad Stafford - 7th Place

Brad Stafford has just been eliminated in 7th place and with that we are down to six players at the ANZPT Auckland Main Event final table.

Stafford’s final hand began with David Lim opening it up to 25,000 from under the gun plus one. Folded around to Stafford in the small blind and he three-bet all in for 116,500. Paul Gahan then tanked for quite some time before also moving all in, from the big blind, for 180,000. Lim let his cards go and Stafford was at risk.

Stafford held {9-Clubs}{9-Spades} and wasn’t looking good against Gahan’s {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}.

When the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Spades}, Stafford was eliminated with NZ$18,105 for his time.

Gubieski and Amant Showdown

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nathan Gubieski was under the gun when he opened it up to 24,000. Folded around to Amant Nauhria in the big blind and he made the call. The dealer spread out a {j-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop and both players checked. On the {7-Diamonds} turn, Nauhria led for 32,000 and Gubieski called. The river was a {6-Spades} and Nauhria bet 46,000. Gubieski decided to fold and the pot went to Nauhria.

Oger Doubles Through Amant

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nicolas Oger opened to 28,000 from early position and action folded around to Amant Nauhria in the small blind who clicked it up to 46,000. The big blind folded and the action was back with Oger.

“If you go all in, I snap call,” barked Nauhria.

So Oger put him to his word. Oger moved all in and indeed Nauhria instantly called.

Oger: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Nauhria: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The flop of {8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} was pretty bad for Nauhria as he was left with just two aces in the deck to knock out his opponent. Then the {k-Spades} appeared on the turn and Nauhria was drawing dead. The {6-Hearts} completed the board to see Oger double up to around 320,000 as Nauria takes a flesh wound, but he’s still in command with over 1.5 million.

Momentum Shift to Gubi

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

A huge swing of chips had just shifted the momentum from Amant Nauhria over to Nathan Gubieski as the two collided in a huge pot.

It started with David Lim opening to 25,000 from the cutoff. Nauhria flat-called in the small blind before Gubieski squeezed to 93,000 from the big blind. Lim got out of the way but Nauhria called again for the second time in the hand.

With Nauhria intently staring down his opponent, the flop would land {10-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Nauhria took a look at the board and then tried to beat his opponent to the punch by moving all in. Gubieski took a deep breath and made the call.

Nauhria: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}
Gubieski: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

Nauhria had caught a flush draw but couldn’t shake Gubieski from top pair. The dealer burned a card and a roar went up when the {6-Clubs} appeared to give Nauhria a flush to take the lead, but the hand wasn’t over there. Gubieski had a bigger flush draw and the {3-Clubs} river card connected to the disgust of Nauhria who stood and walked from the table.

Gubieski doubles up to around 750,000 with Nauhria now in danger of losing the chip lead as he slips to 1.25 million.

King Oger

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nicolas Oger opened to 27,000 from middle position and once again Amant Nauhria was in the thick of the action as he called from the small blind.

The flop landed {2-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts} and Nauhria led out with a bet of 29,000. Oger didn’t muck around as he announced himself all in for around 250,000. Nauhria flashed the {j-Hearts} and folded as Oger repaid the favour by flashing the {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}!

Gubi Wins Some More

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nathan Gubieski opened it up to 24,000 preflop and David Lim called out of the big blind.

Both players checked the {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{k-Hearts} flop and a {q-Spades} hit the turn. Lim check-called a bet of 22,000 here and a {3-} completed the board on the river. This time Lim check-called a bet of 29,000 and at showdown, Gubieski picked up the pot with {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

Gubieski is now up to 800,000 in chips, while Lim is still cruising on 1.25 million.

Stanislav Chataline Eliminated in 6th Place (NZ$22,365)

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Stanislav Chataline - 6th Place
Stanislav Chataline - 6th Place

Amant Nauhria opened under the gun to 26,000 with Nicolas Oger calling in middle position and Stanislav Chataline coming along in the big blind to see a flop of {j-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Action checked to Nauhria who continued for 34,000. Oger got out of the way but Chataline made the call as the {3-Spades} fell on the turn. Again Chataline checked and Nauhria bet another 42,000. Chataline thought briefly before declaring himself all in. Nauhria asked for a count. It was an additional 97,000 to Nauhria and he was happy enough with that price to make the call.

Chataline: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}
Nauhria: {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}

Chataline had turned the nut spade flush draw to go with his second pair, but Nauhria’s creative UTG-raise had turned gold with two pair.

The river was a blank with the {q-Hearts} completing the board to leave Chataline to pick up NZ$22,365 for his 6th place finish.
