There can be only one Snowfest champion
Five days ago, the final stop on Season 5 of the Australia New Zealand Poker Tour began. There were 126 total entrants hoping to become the king of the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event.
Today only nine players are still in contention to bring home the title.
Leading the way with almost a third of the total chips in play is Australia's Jonathan Bredin. Over the last few days Bredin has shown he can rumble with the best of them and is certainly the one to beat.
The second largest stack is one of only two New Zealand players at the table in Jon Pierre Narbey, while Daniel Laidlaw, Daniel Neilson and Ricky Kroesen are some of the notable names still in contention for the NZ$93,600 first-place prize.

The final table kicks off at 12.30 p.m. local time and we will be here all day long until only one players has all the chips.
After the first couple of hands were “raise and take it”, the first significant pot saw Jon-Pierre Narbey raised the button to 12,000 and Jonathan Bredin defend his big blind with a call.
The flop landed and Bredin checked to Narbey who bet 17,000. Bredin made the call. The turn brought the and Bredin checked again to Narbey. This time he gave a discount, making it just 13,000 to go. Bredin smelled weakness and bumped it to 42,000 but Narbey came back with a re-raise to 113,000. Before the chips were counted down, Bredin quickly motioned for his cards to be sent back to the muck as Narbey draws first blood on this final table.
The first elimination at the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event final table has just occurred!
It started with chip leader Jonathan Bredin opening with a raise from middle position. Michael Chon called out of the big blind and a flop was spread on the felt. Chon checked here and Bredin bet 15,000. Chon quickly moved all in and after asking for a count, Bredin made the call.

Chon was in trouble and when the hit the turn, it was all over. The river didn’t help Chon and it was all over in 9th place for a NZ$10,200 score.
Daniel Laidlaw recently shoved all in from the cutoff, at which point Jon Pierre Narbey went deep into the tank from the button. Eventually Narbey folded though and with folds from both the blinds, Laidlaw was safe as he picked up some extra chips.
Raj Ramakrishnan has just managed to scoop up a huge double through Jon Pierre Narbey. The hand started with Ramakrishnan opening to 12,000 from under the gun. Folded around to Narbey in the cutoff and he three-bet to 28,000. Ramakrishnan made the call and the dealer readied three cards for the felt.

Ramakrishnan checked the flop and Narbey bet 50,000. Ramakrishnan moved all in for 206,000 and Narbey instantly called. Both players sort of hesitated before Ramakrishnan tabled for a flopped set and Narbey tabled his .
Narbey didn’t look too excited as the dealer turned over a turn and a river. With that, Narbey takes a big hit to his stack, while Ramakrishnan is in great shape.
Daniel Laidlaw has just managed to double up and now looks like a real threat here at the ANZPT Queenstown Main Event final table. The hand began with Jonathan Bredin opening to 12,000 from under the gun. Colin Carpenter flat-called on the direct left of Bredin and it was folded around to Laidlaw on the button. Laidlaw moved all in for 112,000 and Bredin re-shoved, forcing Carpenter out of the hand.
It was a race situation with Laidlaw holding and having to come up against the of Bredin. The flop was no good for Laidlaw, but the turn was what he was looking for. The river was safe and just like that Laidlaw had doubled. Bredin is still well and truly the chip leader.
